Lights Out will hit over 3 multiplier. Nice feat for a horror in today's market. Deserved it IMHO.

Sub-20% drop for BM is just insane. Its not Bridesmaids but its clearly one of the best female loved movies out there in recent times.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (Aug 12-14)
Sausage Pary was not as front loaded as Bad Moms over OW. It should manage 100m with low competition coming up.

Yeah SP even without competition won't hold as great as BM. With this opening as well I am not sure of $100m total for it.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (Aug 12-14)
Sausage Party is definitely not as crowd-pleasing or hilarious as Bad Moms. It won't have those kind of legs. I hope it can hit 100 Million though.
I think Bad Moms has a lot of gas left in the tank. AMAZING hold. Competition next weekend is even weaker so I expect an even better hold.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (Aug 12-14)
I do think it can have good enough WOM for the 3X multiple it needs for 100m. It has better reviews, audience scores and IM than Neighbors, and that did a 3X multiple with much more competition.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (Aug 12-14)
Neighbors opened much bigger than SP and R-rated animated movies are still rare. I think Neighbors still got a B but don't remember exactly.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (Aug 12-14)
With this kind of drop, BM will certainly pass Spy (110.8) and Trainwreck (110.2) domestically thanks to weak competition for the rest of the month and fantastic WOM.
Despite its R-rating, it managed to have the lowest hold in the top 18!!!! It will pass $100M by the end of the month!!!!!

 Re: Weekend Estimates (Aug 12-14)
Really good weekend for the most part. Great start for Sausage Party, and most of the holdovers (Bad Moms, especially) crushed it.
Bad Moms should hit $100M, which means STX Entertainment is officially in the game.
Hell or High Water's opening bodes well for expansion too.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (Aug 12-14)
Yeah, amazing hold for Bad Moms. It's definitely got the title of "designated-late-summer-leggy-hit" that we didn't really get last year, like The Help, Julie and Julia, We're The Millers, The Butler, etc. Could see it finishing with 110-115M which means we'll probably get a sequel in a couple years..
Awesome for Sausage Party. I'm not sure why so many people think that this will have bad legs? Neighbors dropped 9% on Saturday and it opened in early May. I think the Cinemascore is probably a little misleading as the divisive subject matter probably earned it a low score from a decent amount of people. It would be more helpful to see a spread of what the grades were. So I think the core audience really enjoyed it and will spread good WOM. Plus, little competition for the rest of the summer/September will help. I see it finishing somewhere around 115M as well.

Pets is definitely passing Deadpool to be the #3 movie of the year. Gross.

Pete's Dragon's opening is fine, but I honestly thought it would do 10 or even 15m more.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (Aug 12-14)
Jason Bourne's run is an odd one, in a way. It will finish with a respectable worldwide total, but it is definitely a non-event. The furor and enormity of Suicide Squad certainly overshadowed it. And there is the fact the common reaction among those who saw it is, "It is solid, but not quite on the level I hoped for" or worse.
A year ago on paper, I thought it might be the franchise's Skyfall or Ghost Protocol. A hot, reinvigorating return.
I wonder how motivated Universal, Damon, and Greengrass will be to do another one.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (Aug 12-14)
Universal weren't even motivated enough to market this one. Doubt they'll care for another.
