 $1b movies of 2016
Well, just 6 months left of 2015, time to look forward...
It was really difficult, to select the movies in the poll, as my list of contenders included 30 movies, but the poll allows only for 20...
The ones I did not include in the poll: Dead Pool Peregrine's Home for Peculiars Christ the Lord The Jungle Book Star Trek 3 Pete's Dragon Gambit Geostorm Trolls Assassin's Creed

I haven't made up my mind yet but I think I will include Kung Fu Panda 3 as a Chinese co-production as well...

 Re: $1b movies of 2016
Kung Fu Panda 3 I could see stay about flat domestically, and get an increase overseas, but it probably won't be that big. Ben-Hur probably not. Zootopia will be a tough sell overseas like most non Disney Princess original animated films. Probably won't do more than Big Hero 6. Batman vs. Superman will probably do it, 400 million domestically should be easy, though it would need to near double MOS's take overseas. I voted for that one. Captain America - Civil War I believe will do something like 150 OW because despite the presence of Iron Man, it's not an Iron Man movie, and people didn't exactly love AOU. I see it just missing. Alice will be big overseas, but much growth would surprise me. Probably will do 250 domestic at absolute best. X-Men: Apocalypse probably won't get that much of an increase. Warcraft of course not. Finding Dory should pretty easily. Independence Day 2 should also. The BFG has no chance. The Secret Life of Pets won't for the same reason Zootopia won't. Ice Age 5 has to see a decrease overseas by now, so no. Ghostbusters will be big domestically, not overseas. Suicide Squad could maybe do 600-700. Inferno no. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them wil probably do 800-900. Star Wars probably will. Doctor Strange has no chance. Moana should be on thus list considering its the first Disney princess movie after Frozen, which did over 1.2 billion.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Finding Dory, and Ice Age 5.
Just three for me.

People realize ID4 was the #1 film in the world before right??
It's sequel is getting $1 billion. I think people are dramatically underestimating its overseas potential here. Would not be surprised by $1.5 B.

It's just that EVERY aliens-invading-Earth film since has done peanuts. Independence Day is not beloved in the same way that Jurassic Park is. A sequel is more likely to seem as desperate as Terminator Genisys than as awesome Jurassic World.

I just don't see how ID4 will differentiate itself from rest of Alien invasion movies. It will do great like $900m but might not get to $1b.

As we are heading towards the SW7 opening, most summer blockbusters have released their previews - time to bump this one up...

 Re: $1b movies of 2016
Batman vs Superman should do a billion or it be a huge fail CA3 should do it with IM in there which will mean a 700+ overseas gross. X-men can only if it ups the action a lot. Finding Dory is near locked. Rouge one should

So ZOOTOPIA is currently at $811.7m - Japan is key for $1b...

 Re: $1b movies of 2016
If Ice Age increases is OS markets, specially in China where last one did $67m it could do $1b OS.
BvS is sure to miss $1b mark now which is a big disappointment.
Civil War, Dory and Rogue One should still clear $1b. Zootopia would most likely miss this mark now that its China run is winding down. I don't see Alice getting to the mark

KFP3's OS performance is really disappointing specially in China it should have cleared $200m.

 Re: $1b movies of 2016
Quote: Warner Bros’ Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is now looking like it will come in lower with a decline of 50%-55% for $23.1M-$25.65M, which is just shy of the three-century mark with a running cume through its third weekend of $296.4M-$298.9M. Now, Warners wasn’t expecting the Zack Snyder film to cross $300M this weekend, but rather during CinemaCon this coming week. I hear that the magic number internally which will really make Warner execs truly happy is $800M. http://deadline.com/2016/04/the-weekend ... 201734178/WB doesn't is not even sure that this will get $800m this week. Its at $723m so it needs a $50m+ OS weekend which might not happen.

That's just PR. Which company is 'truly happy' just for reaching breaking point ?

 Re: $1b movies of 2016
Given that BvS is barely going to reach $20m domestically I don't see this reaching $800m WW this weekend, I hope they are not happy and do something REAL.
