That would be decent, but not a breakout for anything. Still miles better than the last few shitty weeks.

All of these will probably be off 1-3 million either way. It's way to fucking early. Soon we will get Early Friday # on Wednesday evening.

Hoping TC2 to go higher specially since it should have bigger night business. Warcraft seems ok with those previews, same for NYSM2

Warcraft might scratch low 30s but that's below what I expected. I guess China will save it.

I saw quite a few evening/night sellouts for The Conjuring 2, so I wouldn't be surprised if the OD was on par with the first. Strangely enough even NYSM2 had one sellout tonight while Warcraft has had none.

Just realized that two of the openers have Asian directors, while the one that broke records in China was directed by David Bowie's son.

Is that a good drop for Civil War? I never thought I'd see the day.

$26m for Warcraft would be pretty weak, but China is saving it.

Those Sunday drops look optimistic.
I see a drop in estimates for Warcraft/NYSM2 unless Saturday improves.

$91m worth of saving since it opened there on Wednesday!

One must not forget that it depends on the deal Universal got with China. Not all studios get percentages from the Chinese gross, you all know that, right? Many just get paid a fixed sum and that's it. And if they do, it is no more than 25%.

Warcraft is not getting $25m with that Friday number let alone that much. Overall not a bad weekend.

Looks like my initial prediction of Warcraft making around 85-90% of its worldwide gross internationally will come true. If the Friday number holds, it will struggle to $70 million domestically, but should still fly past $500 million overseas.

I'd say it's a struggle to $60m. Don't see it having good legs.

No, it won't, but I think it will open bigger than $25 million. Maybe $27-28 million. We'll know when the final Friday estimates come in.

With this Friday estimate $25m is max and its overall multiplier will be barely over 2.

Are these threads for discussing gross box office or studio net profit?

Its quite frontloaded in china as well. saturday looks like grossing 130m yuan versus around 300m yuan on thursday. Looking at pre-sales for sunday its gonna struggle to 50m. So China is going to stop around $200m. Not sure that would be enough for 500m OS.

Anyway since wanda owns legendary they are getting bigger cut for this. So its going to be financially ok. Sequel happening. for sure.

Strong retention for Conjuring. Okay retention for NYSM. Low end of expectations for Warcraft, but not terrible for a film people thought might do high teens a week ago and is killing it overseas.

Warcraft is flopping as expected and was frontloaded. Great for TC2 to pull away so easily from the other heavily marketed movie and bucking the drastic sequel OW reduction this summer. Good for NYSM2 but the increase in budget from last movie would end this franchise most likely.
