I remember Germany was the biggest European market for Desolation of Smaug as well so the highest OD is not a surprise there.

Looks like Germany will deliver (at least) 1.4m admissions in 5 days compared to 1,238,266 (5 days) for TH1 and 1,259,086 (4 days) for TH2

So looks to match TH2 considering it's 5day vs 4day?

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (International
TH3 is now looking like 1.5m admissions so the regular 4 day take of TH2 will be somewhat matched...

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (International
BOM has it at $26m now and I think that's 2 day total. This is from the Forbes article posted in Friday numbers thread Quote: Speaking of which, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (review) opened in a number of overseas territories on Wednesday, and thus far the Peter Jackson epic has earned $26.6 million in its first two days of international play. The third-and-final film in the second Middle Earth trilogy opened in the UK on Friday and opens in Japan today. I’ll try to update as best as I can, but (all due respect), Warner is generally pretty late about dropping overseas grosses. As of now, I can tell you that it scored the biggest Warner Bros. (Time Warner TWX -1.43% Inc.) opening day of all time in Russia and scored the biggest opening day of the year in New Zealand. Overall, it’s running ahead of The Desolation of Smaug in pretty much every comparable market. http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendel ... 5m-friday/

It is at 117 now http://variety.com/2014/film/news/hobbi ... 201379265/It will probably be the only film to make it the second billion dollar film this year.

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (International
This is making $750m OS this time. Having more action this time I believe China will see another 50% increase for a $100m+ total. DOS did $74m there. I think $250m is the domestic total it needs to get past $1bWW mark.

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (International
Everything is ripe for it to clear $1b worldwide even without it reaching $250m domestically, including a lacklustre marketplace (as it's in need of a big event film).

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (International
Its at $122.2m OS now. Quote: Around-the-World Roundup: 'Hobbit' Finale Opens to $122 Million Overseas
A week ahead of its U.S. debut, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies began its international victory lap this weekend.
Playing in 37 markets—and only seven major ones—the finale of Peter Jackson's second Middle Earth trilogy earned a massive $122.2 million. Its top territory was Germany, where its $20.5 million debut was easily the biggest of the year.
It also had huge openings in the U.K. ($15.2 million), France ($15.05 million), Russia ($13.75 million), Brazil ($6.8 million), Mexico ($6.3 million), and New Zealand ($1.8 million). It wasn't particularly impressive in Japan ($2.4 million), though it's rare for a live-action import to do much business there. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3978&p=.htm

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (International
The updated number is $457.8m OS by 1-Jan-2015 which would translate to $52.7m weekdays. As of Friday its total is now $657m and it has now surpassed Interstallar WW total and do so this weekend for MJ1 WW as well. It might cross GotG WW total this weekend as well.

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (International
It opens in China at the end of January, where it will get another $80-$100m. So this weekend it will also make some great bunce. It's making $1b.

It did amazing in China this weekend, almost 50 million http://boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=4010&p=.htmThe Hobbit should pass a billion now. It has a small chance at passing Transformers if it continues to perform well in China.

I guess it will reach around $100m in China, maybe $120m. Unbroken and Mockingjay Part II are released soon.

Re: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (International
Hopefully it touches $1b mark but the domestic total is not increasing too much from DOS. I think it will top out at $260m which would leave China and holdovers to get it another $120m. It might just miss the $1b mark by $30m or so IMO.

China should do at least 100-120 on its own. It will probably make another 10-20 billion from everywhere else.
