D&D 2- 36
BH6- 35
Interstellar- 28
Beyond Lights- 6.5

BH6 really surged on Saturday. 105% is a much bigger increase than Wreck It Ralph had on its second Saturday. Did people have off for Veteran's day or something that friday since it was on a sunday to weaken Saturday increases?

While not a horrible number, that is quite disappointing for Beyond the Lights. I figured the good marketing and reviews would really help it. There also hasn't been an urban influenced movie since... No Good Deed? Very good numbers for the top 3.

Beyond The Lights is a GREAT movie and a total crowdpleaser. It deserves to be doing a lot better. Hopefully WOM is strong.

Terrific for Interstellar all things considered. I knew WOM would be at least good, I've heard praise from a lot of people the past week.

Very strong, but not spectacular debut for Foxcatcher.

Great weekend for Interstellar! Seems all the doom-and-gloom predictions after the opening weekend was a bit under par were a bit unfounded. :)

Maze Runner had a great release date. Appealing trailer in a dead marketplace, I doubt it would've done 100 million in the states if it was released in the summer. It'll be interesting to see how the next one does, I guess when we see Divergent to Insurgent's change in gross we'll be able to judge.

D&d2 actually is estimated at 38m. Which is fantastic. 90s nostalgia is strong YALL. Jurassic World GONNA set the world on fire next summer.

The 36 projection was from last night.

Just realized that of BH6 10-day mutliplier matches WIR, it'll get to 225m+. Perhaps a bit optimistic but it certainly not impossible. It seems very likely to do 210m at least I think, which should be enough to be in top 10 at end of the year.

What will help Big Hero 6 is that due to its faster start, it should hold on to theaters for a week or two longer than Wreck-It Ralph did, which could help it pick up slack. I still think the film would have done way better in Penguins' slot. Same debut with all those Christmas weekdays and boosts could have propelled it to 300 million.

Films that did well
Dumb and Dumber To
Big Hero 6 (I was hoping for more, but I can't even say this is a meh hold.)
Interstellar
Gone Girl
St. Vincent
Fury
Ouija
Birdman

Films that did meh
Beyond the Lights
Nightcrawler

A week with no bad performances in the top 10. Let's hope this trend continues.

Dumb and Dumber To has a good chance, if not anywhere near a guarantee, at 100 million. Big Hero 6 appears to be on pace for around 210-220 million, which while not as much as I was hoping for, will still make it the 3rd or 4th biggest Disney Animated movie ever. Interstellar should have decent legs, even if the numbers aren't as big as many hoped. beyond the Lights did meh. Not much else to say. Congrats to The Maze Runner, I guess.

Gone Girl could finish with as much as $175M if awards propel it in a few months. Crazy.

It's one of very few films from the last 5 years that needs to be seen on IMAX.

Post Re: Weekend Estimates
The most surprising thing for me is the demographic split for D&D2. I can't believe it, but D&D2 is playing demographically like Fast and the Furious 6!!!

It got a large young demographic considering its a sequel to a film that's 20 years old. It had the same 57% audience that was 25 years or older compared to Fast 6. Males made up 55% compared to 51% for Fast 6. Most surprisingly, Fast 6 had an audience that was 32% Latino, while D&D2 had a whopping 38% Hispanic audience and just 44% Caucasian.

I did not expect to see the film perform as well as it did across quadrants but outpacing low $30's expectations makes sense considering how well it did across demos. I could see Horrible Bosses 2 and D&D2 somewhat co-exist. Horrible Bosses 1 skewed much older (64% over 25) and was more evenly split between the genders (51% male).

A very strong weekend. A 9% slide in Top 12 where the last weekend openers has combined for a $100m+ total is GREAT.

Glad to see Interstellar had a good drop after all the negativity surrounding it's opening. It might not be a HUGE success at the end of the day, but it should still be considered a solid hit. Great opening for D&D2 aswell. With the success of Ninja Turtles, Godzilla, and now D&D this pretty much assures JW has BIG potential next summer.

All they need is a killer marketing campaign for it.

Whiplash actually did solid, IMO. I really wasn't even sure it would snare a $1,000 average this weekend with such a big expansion but it had almost a $2,000 average.

Actuals all down quite a bit (D&D down 2 million). Still good for almost everything.
