How much would a reboot of THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES make?
It's been 15 years since Anne Rice's INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE delivered the 6th biggest opening weekend of all-time and made Brad Pitt a household name (his only successes before that were A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT and THELMA & LOUISE).
With Vampires going strong in every format (TRUE BLOOD on cable, VAMPIRE DIARIES on TV and TWILIGHT at the movies) I'm a bit surprised that WB isn't attempting a reboot of THE VAMPIRE CHRONCILES. The very cheap QUEEN OF THE DAMNED failed at the box office but it never got the blockbuster treatment anyway...
Anne Rice wrote nine books for THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES plus two more books for NEW TALES OF THE VAMPIRES - that's an 11 movies franchise right there if done right...
So what do you guys think a reboot could do?

Re: How much would a reboot of THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES make?
Interview was too awesome to ever remake - that's as good as that book could be done. What would be awesome is if Cruise and Pitt came back to the characters and Neil Jordan came back and they made Vampire LeStat totally ignoring QotD, adding more Louis and omitting a lot or all of the rock star stuff. That's 200m in the bank. Then perhaps redo QotD the right way. They don't need to do any of the other Vampire Chronicles books - it went way downhill from QotD.
This is very unlikely, but honestly I don't think anyone wants a reboot.

Ehh, the final book of the Vampire Chronicles (Blood Canticle) very much enraged/split the fans so I wouldn't be so sure about their allegiance to the series.
It will also depend on the casting.

God I hope not those were terrible movies.
Just because it has vampires doesn't mean it will be good. I mean why not bring back Blade while were at it...Wesley Snipes needs to make that Tax Money back anyhow.

I'm bumping this up because of this THR headline: Vampires bring $7 bil to Hollywood economy http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/con ... e3e4350d17

R rated vampire flicks peaked in the 90s with Dracula and Interview and had all star casts.

It's not like Edward Cullen and his Albino clan are actually vampires though.

I hope it doesn't happen. Not making the sequels with the original cast was a massive mistake, QOTD ruined the franchise. No reboot is going to be as successful as the original any time soon.

Re: How much would a reboot of THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES make?
I don't think people really are interested in a serious vampire movie these days. Vampires in this generation (really suck) are lovable and miserable characters that are adorable and more human....I think this would have to wait for some more time when Vampires become more realistic and someone gets them back on track and right back.....I am sure a reboot or a sequel will not make it....it would have to be something original

It honestly depends on everything. I enjoyed Vampire's Assistant, but that flopped. Lestat is the most important character. Build from that you at least have a franchise.
