Go Cruise-meister!!
I think it says it's WB biggest opening of all time there, but 4th overall. Still, mighty impressive and I hope this does well before the World Cup starts decreasing admissions mostly everywhere.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow International Box Office
have you seen it yet Algren?
It's a great movie. I hope it does well. I think the WC helps it because it's already opened and not many movies want to open during the WC so as long as it holds onto screens, it will be the one of the few options and having great WOM is the icing on the cake that will or should hopefully benefit it a lot more.
Wonder why it opened so big in Korea. Maybe the original manga was popular there. Snowpiercer did phenomenally well there, but that was a Korean movie. Anyway this is much better than Snowpiercer.

I am still not sure that WOM will be out-of-the-world on this one. It would be good but not something that would bring additional audience that weren't excited to see this before.

It bombed in many major markets, only China will make it surpass 200M.

Overseas is getting as bad as domestic with their constant jerking off to sequels and franchises no matter how shitty and shoddy they actually are. Standards are lowering everywhere. EW.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow International Box Office
THR: Edge of Tomorrow opened to strong numbers in China on Thursday, grossing $6.7 million, the No. 4 opening of the year. And it scored the top opening day of all time for a Cruise film in Russia ($1.4 million). The film, which began rolling out in select markets last weekend, has now earned $41 million internationally.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow International Box Office
Quote: While domestic audiences weren't all that interested in Edge of Tomorrow, the movie did manage to earn an impressive $82 million overseas this weekend. That includes a $25 million debut in China, which is the biggest opening ever for Tom Cruise. It was also huge in South Korea ($16.6 million), and it scored in Russia as well ($8.6 million).
Elsewhere, though, the movie wasn't quite as strong: it opened to $3.2 million in France, $3.1 million in Mexico and $2.8 million in Australia. Its final market is Japan, where it opens on July 4th; ultimately, Edge should earn north of $250 million. Current overseas total - $111 million Well, THAT is strong. Its opening weekends in South Korea and China are higher than the totals of Oblivion in those markets. It has a shot at $250 million overseas.

Well that also means you shouldn't be calling others opinion blatantly wrong. And while it is doing great in OS markets I don't think its still reaching $400m-$450m WW total which is still bad for a $170m movie.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow International Box Office
400-450M with a 170M budget would make it profitable for the studio, so how is that bad?

You are forgetting the marketing budget of this one plus I said it WON'T reach $400m-$450m just to clarify I think it won't reach $400m WW total.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow International Box Office
$181 million overseas, coming off a $37.4 million weekend.
You know, if the budget was in line with Oblivion ($120 million) or Elysium ($115 million), instead of being a hefty $178 million, it probably would be considered a hit. It looks set for $250+ million overseas. Cruise's 3rd-biggest overseas film, aside from the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow International Box Office
Lecter included War of the Worlds when he said "3rd-biggest overseas film, aside from the Mission: Impossible franchise", meaning that Edge of Tomorrow will be his 3rd biggest non-M:I film overseas to date.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow International Box Office
EoT is definitely doing good and I am sure the WoM will help this movie but not to a HUGE total. Quote: Edge of Tomorrow continues to battle through the overseas markets, adding $37.4 million in its latest frame to reach a $181 million cume outside of North America. IMAX screenings contributed $3.4 million this weekend, bringing the film's global IMAX haul up to $22 million. Edge of Tomorrow has grossed $237.6 million worldwide . That IMAX total is REALLY impressive for it.

Re: Edge of Tomorrow International Box Office
In 10 days, Edge has grossed $50.5m from China. With current competition from Godzilla and on 27th June from Transformers: Age of Extinction, it will likely fizzle out at around $70m, maybe even less.
