Great opening, horrible multiplier. Hopefully total multiplier is better than this. Still it's gonna get to $80m which is my breakout mark. Drama about dieing people is not an easy sell no matter how popular the source matwrial is.

Best case for The Fault in Our Stars' total now seems to be $135-140 million. Obviously a HUGE gross, but I am so happy it is not gonna make more.

Magic Mike and SATC had similar Saturday drops without previews/Midnight's and still managed solid IMs in the ling run. I would call $100m a stone-cold lock and you can literally quote me on that if it fails.

The reason why $100 million will almost certainly happen is that female-centric films have amazing summer weekdays (never really understood why). However, I am also rather certain that $150 million will not happen.

Every night is fun time for girls. Girls go to the movies on any night, whereas guys usually prioritise it for the weekends. Plus, every summer has a sporting event of some kind, which is why the girls just get out of the house and see a movie with their other girlfriends, whereas the guy stays in or goes to the pub with his buddies to watch the game/match.

Maleficent better not have the best legs of the summer. WTF.

Fuck the idiots who continue to blindly support the bullshit that comes out of Disney.

Incredible how people continue to drink the Kool-Aid. No one liked Alice but it made $300m and $1B. No one liked Oz and it made $200m.

WHY are they watching it? Christ. At least Jolie doesn't phone it in like Depp and Franco but still these movies should all be burnt.

I hope EoT recovers.

I think kids and females like these movies; a segment of society that isn't well-represented on WOKJ or the Internet.

If next weekend is a bust, I think I'm going to quit following this summer.

It's been pretty fucking disappointing. At least, the quality of the movies have been good, even though quite unfortunately that's not the only thing that matters.

Don't blame me when Disney releases the live action remake of the Lion King, taking place in NYC with cats or when Aladdin is updated and they cast Miles Teller and Selena Gomez.

Perhaps, because it is the Internet and you get to rant and rave without consequence.

I am pretty calm in real life.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm an armchair critic, because I do complain in real life, but phrase my points in such a way that is more likely for others to listen/react to. Humour especially. Here, it's just easy to fuck this and fuck that when I'm annoyed at the disappointments of society.

BK is one of the few members where I actually stop and read his posts. It makes a change to read posts that don't follow the WOKJ sheep train (i.e. you can spot this by seeing what Jack Sparrow agrees with -- he's the driver of the train).

You will if that's all that makes money.

There's already Peter Pan and Tarzan being made into movies at Warner. I know many of these stories aren't originally written by Disney, but they're the ones famous for it.

There's a sequel to Alice in Wonderland for Christ's sake. What is that even going to be about?

Look at the copycat game after Twilight.

It would suck if the next few years are defined by remakes of Disney films or reimaginings of fairy tales because they all so badly need to be told, don't they?

Did you know that Disney wanted to make an update of Snow White based in Hong Kong? One of those family caper plots they always do that works so well. It's insanely pathetic.

I agree that it's shit, but the last 15 years have been defined by remakes of classic movies from the last 50 years, so why shouldn't Disney now go through the shit-mill? I want Disney to lose some of their purity with a bunch of crappy remakes.

You do know that Lewis Carroll has acually written a sequel to Alice in Wonderland, right?

Damn that's worse multiplier for Fault. EoT did fine and I don't understand why people are sad about it, its very close to $30m mark which is great for it.

Maleficent sure got that families to support it this weekend. Hopefully it gets killed next weekend.

It is now official that good WOM CANNOT save X-Men franchise it has to open huge to get a good total.

Captain America: The Winter Solider officially passed The LEGO Movie and became #1 of 2014.

yeah, X-Men will probably have a 50% drop next weekend too. Unfortunate but at least it won't struggle to 200 million.

Very good drop for Maleficent. Next weekend should see another 50%+ drop too though, especially since the first Dragon attracted more females.

Fault not hitting 50 million is surprising but making 4x its budget already, in its first weekend no less, is crazy. Low budget movies becoming blockbusters is always nice to see.

Yeah, you do have a point, but both films didn't reach their full potential, IMO.
