Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (INTL)
Captain America will probably never be popular OS for obvious reasons. The first one didn't even do 200 million. Best case is probably around 300 million OS.

I expect a two or three times bigger gross from Germany...
BTW, they changed the title here to THE RETURN OF THE FIRST AVENGER...

Its releasing a week earlier here in Singapore and Noah has been moved to next week. I believe Noah might hurt CA2's changes for good legs here.

I see a big increase. I'm guessing an overseas total of $350-370 million sounds right.

450M. I see it beating thor 2 in asia and latin america while losing in europe. Plus with significantly stronger reviews it will have better run. So I see it finishing slightly higher than Thor 2 in domestic and overseas.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (INTL)
I don't see it going up that much. You have to realize that many people OS will be turned off by a hero called Captain America. I would be shocked if it topped Thor 2.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (INTL)
In OS this will do less than Thor2 but not by much. Domestically the two will mostly even out.

Well for what it's worth, Latin America considers the entire hemisphere "America"

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (INTL)
$75.2 m weekend overseas. Looks set for $300 m + and a 60% or even 100% + increase from CA1's overseas tally.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (INTL)
Yes this releasing now helped it differentiate from the summer crowd. I can see this do doing really well in OS markets and given how good the movie is it should see a good increase in domestic total as well.

good numbers but below Thor 2 in almost all of them so I don't expect it to reach 400m

I am still banking on better WOM and thus good legs to catching up with Thor 2 and $400m.

It's so dark and political that I can't see it gaining much traction with families.

Yeah it won't pass Thor 2 OS. So, 350-380 at the most.

That's a pretty remarkable number in China, even with the constant-expanding market.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (INTL)
Definitely Avengers effect. I think it will be very close to Thor 2 in OS markets and might exceed it as well. It still has Brazil and Japan among the big markets. That China opening is great.

Magnus wrote: uh isnt this like guranteed to beat Thor 2 OS now? 450m OS seems assured. Thor 2 was at $240.9 million around the same time, and crashed pretty quickly. This could follow a similar pattern. However, depending on how far it goes domestically it could end up beating Thor 2 WW.
