 November 15-17 Predictions
You know the drill.
The Best Man Holiday - $22 million (can't believe it is the sole opener that weekend!)
Thor: The Dark World - -56%

 Re: November 15-17 Predictions
lol I can't believe Wolf was supposed to be released next week.
I'll say 19 for Best Man Holiday, 60% drop for Thor.

 Re: November 15-17 Predictions
I am getting think like a man Vides from The Best Man 2. The first become a classic for romantic comedy in the urban community and tge reaction to the trailer have been very positive. A 30 million opening would not shock me.

 Re: November 15-17 Predictions
Given the current marketplace, I'd be seriously surprised if The Best Man Holiday came in under $20 million.

 Re: November 15-17 Predictions
I feel like its appeal is inherently limited, and won't be helped much by being the only wide release. It's such a weird case though - how often do we get sequels to a film that was only a modest hit over a decade after it opened? It's quite odd.

 Re: November 15-17 Predictions
The market doesn't have to stay at certain level if there is no appealing choice, even for a normally busy month like November. In 2007, we have two consecutive weekends in Nov where the top 12 films grossed less than $100m total.

Magnus wrote: after the IM and breakdown showed a stronger interest with families, a low 50s drop seems right for Thor. I'd actually be somewhat letdown by a drop in the high 50s. Yeah, I'm thinking the same too. I think the lack of any openers aimed at a wide audience will take at least 5% off the drops of most of the movies. The weekend will still be way down from this weekend and last year, but the holdovers will benefit somewhat.

Best Man: 16 Thor 2: 37
Super hero are just too naturally frontloaded now to avoid a 55% drop even with the help of families, IMO.

 Re: November 15-17 Predictions
Yes, those are all asinine comparisons (in response to your asinine comment bringing up Avengers ), but Thor 2 is still a sequel and will be more frontloaded than the first. The great internal multiplier is certainly interesting, but in the past, that by itself hasn't been a great indicator of an overall performance out of the norm.

Fandango 5
1. Thor: The Dark World 2. Free Birds 3. Hunger Games: Catching Fire 4. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 5. The Best Man Holiday A good sign for The Best Man Holiday to be on there, though it's also behind Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs which isn't making much anymore.

 Re: November 15-17 Predictions
The fact that The Best Man 2 is already in the top 5 is a very good sign. My prediction of a Think Like A Man opening is looking good.
