 Gravity International Box Office
Seems like Gravity is going to do huge business overseas.
Business so far:
It's at $28.4 m so far overseas.
I'm thinking its going to get $350 m + for $600-700 m worldwide.

Good point! It's got potential to make a big bang in that market.

 Re: Gravity International Box Office
$350 m domestic
$450 m + internationally?
Still tough to tell how this will be received globally, but considering Avatar made $2 billion overseas, Gravity could really overperform overseas as well though not to that extent.
I think Inception is a good comparison, but who knows. $292 m domestic, $533 m overseas.
Gravity looks like a strong candidate for $700 m + though. Not sure where this is going to end up...

 Re: Gravity International Box Office
The WOM is good but it didn't have as much awareness in its opening than Inception. Its going to do great but I don't think it will make $500m OS. If somehow it does then I would be very very surprised.

I cannot wait to see Gravity! I initially thought that the foreign movie quota had been used up so Gravity wouldn't be able to open, but it seems like a few movies throughout the year were co-productions so there were a few spaces left, I guess.

 Re: Gravity International Box Office
It won't receive an IMAX release in France because the handful of available screens are reserved for a new Jean-Pierre Jeunet film.

 Re: Gravity International Box Office
In most Western European countries IMAX is so irrelevant due to the tiny number of screens. I think Gravity might be playing on one or two IMAX screens in Germany.

Yeah, this Deadline article says there are only five IMAX screens in all of France. That'll cost it what, $1-2 million in total gross if we're being generous?

^ That's a shocker but regardless Gravity can pull in big numbers with 3D though a lot of movies still do that in OS markets.

 Re: Gravity International Box Office
China release next month! Quote: The country's Film Bureau has given Alfonso Cuaron's space epic the thumbs-up, says state-backed news outlet "Beijing News."
After weeks of speculation, Warner Bros.' Gravity is finally set for liftoff in China next month after the Film Bureau approved its release in the world's second-largest film market, state-backed news source Beijing News reported.
Gravity is currently racking up stellar box office earnings of $123.4 million worldwide, but there had been questions as to whether the movie starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock would get a Chinese release because the quota of 34 movies for the year is nearly full and films celebrating U.S. achievements in space generally don't make the cut in China. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/g ... ber-648157

 Re: Gravity International Box Office
http://variety.com/2013/film/news/gravi ... 200756142/Gravity’ Soars Past $300 Million at Worldwide Box Office The box office steamroller that is Warner Bros.’ “Gravity” reached $300 million worldwide Wednesday, with domestic grosses outstanding at nearly $175 million. Internationally, the 3D B.O. phenom, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, reached $115.6 million from 51 territories. There’s plenty more space for “Gravity” to grow overseas, with major markets like France, the U.K., China and Japan yet to come. So far, the film’s top-grossing international market is Russia, with $17.6 million in three weeks. Australia and Germany follow, having contributed north of $11 million each locally. The global endgame for “Gravity” is tough to call, though domestically, the film could easily soar past $250 million. The pic’s overseas benchmark depends on how it’s embraced in 3D-hungry China, as well as the more mature European markets still to come. “Gravity” is already this year’s 10th-highest grossing film domestically. If the film holds well again this weekend, it feasibly could notch a rare four straight wins at the box office. Paramount’s “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” provides stiff competition, however.

 Re: Gravity International Box Office
A $1.2 m gross in 5 days is enough reason that they wanted Gravity on Imax instead!
Gravity's worldwide gross is tough to predict. There's probably close to $100 m left domestically for at least $275 m total, bringing it to $400 m worldwide.
Holdover markets now should bring it up to $450 m. Add in the major markets left, could get to $600-700 m as a rough estimate.
Very tough to gauge right now though!

 Re: Gravity International Box Office
Gravity remained first at the int’l box office with $36.6 million and a global cume of $364.2 million.
It was propped up by a fantastic $11.8 million opening in France, which is its highest debut yet. It also continued to play well in holdover markets South Korea ($5.8 million) and Mexico ($4 million). To date, Gravity has earned $164.4 million; it reaches the U.K. and China in November and Japan in December, and should earn well over $300 million by the end of its run.
Another $75 m at least domestically, bringing it to $439.2 m. $600-700 m worldwide could be a good range for it at this point.

 Re: Gravity International Box Office
Gravity extended its strong international run with a $26.3 million haul this weekend. Including previews, it opened in first place in the U.K. with $9.8 million; a whopping 89 percent of that gross came from 3D showings. Meanwhile, it added $4.2 million in France for a three-week total of $32 million, which makes it the movie's highest-grossing market so far.
Gravity has now earned $241.2 million overseas. It opens in China in two weeks, and is the type of big-screen 3D experience that does massive business there ($50 million is a guarantee). Add in its Japan run (which begins in December) and Gravity is on course for around $400 million.
Gravity is having a very slow but steady rollout overseas. It has had only one international weekend so far not range between $26.3 m-$30.3 m Only one weekend over that level so far and it might end up getting to $400 m overseas, and $700 m worldwide.
1st weekend: $28.4 m 2nd weekend: $28 m 3rd weekend: $30.03 m 4th weekend: $36.6 m 5th weekend: $27.1 m 6th weekend: $26.3 m
