Re: Friday Numbers
Honestly, 42 has a solid shot at $100 million if legs are good. It's the only straight drama over the next couple months, and clearly WOM is strong.
Curious to see how the art house films performed...

Re: Friday Numbers
"@ERCboxoffice: Welcome to the Top 10! THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES found $1.2M in 514 theaters on Friday."
Wow, Very strong expansion. $4+ million and $8k+ PTA is very possible over the weekend. Focus is doing a very solid job with this so far.

Re: Friday Numbers
With an A+ Cinemascore and this good of an opening $100M+ is VERY likely for 42 IMO. People seem to be really loving it.
Too bad nobody made a 42 OVER Oblivion club, because I can definitely see it happening now.
Great expansion for Pines too.

Re: Friday Numbers
Great for 42 it should make $25m+ and get close to $30m with that Friday numbers. $100m seems to be achievable with good WOM.
Great for Pines as well.

Re: Friday Numbers
With good reviews from critics, Great word of mouth and now this opening, 42 is looking at a great run. Great job WB
As for next weekend Oblivion is looking like this years John Carter. Trailers were great but those tv spots are some boring.

Very good for Pines! I'm guessing Trance didn't do well, which is a shame.

Re: Friday Numbers
Trance looks too weird and lacks real starpower. James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel, and Rosario Dawson don't compare to Gosling, Cooper, Mendes, Liotta, and company. I'll personally watch anything Liotta is in because he's awesome at playing the role he always plays.

Alas, not very good. I am sure The Place Beyond the Pines hurt it.

Re: Friday Numbers
Great for 42, it still has a shot at 30 million. Scary Movie might not make 15 million and hopefully crashes and burns, making this the last Scary Movie.

Re: Friday Numbers
Pines did awesome. Should do a million or so more than I expected it to do this weekend. Will definitely expand more next weekend.

That really sucks for Trance. Hopefully it finds an audience when it's released on DVD/blu.

Re: Friday Numbers
Yeah, I did not expect most of the holdovers to be hit so hard. It's expected for Evil Dead, sure, but I thought G.I. Joe, The Croods, Jurassic Park, Oz, etc... would see smaller declines.
I want to know how Disconnect, The Company You Keep, and To The Wonder did.

Oh, and you think I'm upset that it's made $9m on its first day? Lol. Hardly a hit either. The American government has made it a "hit".
