Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (OVERSEAS)
My understanding of and ability to predict international numbers is fairly limited compared to many here, but I love this film, and I am very glad to see it is posting very good or even fantastic numbers in many nations, largely in the Far East and South America. It has earned 35 million so far, with number-one openings in Brazil, Hong Kong, Mexico, Taiwan, and elsewhere. It also held the top spot in Russia. It is earning more than Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Snow White and the Huntsman, and the fourth Underworld in most territories. It has yet to open in Western Europe and Australia and New Zealand. http://www.boxoffice.com/latest-news/20 ... -dominates

Hmmmm, might we see a sequel?
Probably not because Renner's a pretty busy guy with three active (and bigger) franchises, but I'd like to see one. And it looks like the studio is going to make good money with this film.

Re: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (OVERSEAS)
It certainly seems the film will turn a very, very nice profit for Paramount and MGM, having only cost an estimated 50 million. I would love to see a sequel , but I will not get my hopes up. I am just eager to see this one continue to do well.

OS markets love some 3D crap from time to time. I'm not surprised this might do numbers like RE or The Three Musketeers.

Shouldn't you be out abducting Liam Neeson's daughter?

If this is turned into a franchise, then Renner will be busy making sequels for the next 5-7 years. No chance at another Oscar nod, I suppose.

He has the new James Gray movie this year with Marion Cotillard and Joaquin Phoenix. He is also attached to David O. Russell's next film. He is still pursuing heavier material.

Re: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (OVERSEAS)
This is doing really good in Singapore as well. Not much with 3D but the reviews are good to great. Personally I liked the movie (it delivers what the trailers promised, brainless and continuous action).
I do also hope it gets a sequel. The opening number looks good and big but mostly because it opened so huge in Russia. It is still headed for $200m OS IMO but getting to $241m ahead of Snow White is something that's yet to be seen. Underworld got 3 sequels so Paramount should give this one a shot with that OS numbers.

Re: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (OVERSEAS)
Chances are they will not due to Renner's schedule and the (150 percent unfair) thrashing the first received at the hands of critics, but I wish Paramount would consider a sequel. This film will earn over 200 million worldwide, and it was not a particularly expensive production.
Its domestic legs are strong considering the competition and genre. It will almost reach a 3.0 multiplier.

Re: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (OVERSEAS)
Yes. If they ignore the reviews this could easily get a sequel. The only concern in Renner's schedule now, I highly doubt Artenton has much on her plate other than this.

Re: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (OVERSEAS)
As far as I can see, audiences enjoy it a lot, too. A lot of online posts (on places such as the Internet Movie Database and Blu-ray.com) have a common theme of positive surprise at how very entertaining an action-comedy-horror hybrid it is.

Yes the user reviews are quiet good. The critical reviews are just really harsh IMO.

So far worldwide total is 152.2 Million. Would love to see this make enough for them to consider a sequel.

Re: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (OVERSEAS)
This still has France, UK, Germany, Spain and several other markets ahead. Um, I believe it could make $200 million overseas alone.
Its run in Brazil is amazing. Four weeks at #1, already grossed $19.3 million there. That's more than Skyfall, Men in Black 3, Brave or The Expendables 2. Last year, that would have been enough for the yearly Top 10. And that's after four weeks...
