 Re: TMNT Previews
They started at 7PM, but that's still a great number. To put it in perspective, the only movie with $4+ million previews to miss $20 million opening day is Paranormal Activity 4. Even the more fanboy-heavy The Wolverine did $20.65 million off $4 million previews. I know we've been seeing increased frontloading with these previews, but $17-18 million is probably the bare minimum.

 Re: TMNT Previews
High 40s to 50 million should be in pkay. Michael Bay wins again. Did not think TMNT was still popular but i was wrong.

 Re: TMNT Previews
800K previews for Into the Storm would mean what? 4-5M OD? Low teens OW? That's around expectations.

 Re: TMNT Previews
So around $45-50M for TMNT. Pretty much the higher end of the expectations I always had for it, but I knew it shouldn't have been underestimated.
Guardians was really the only thing holding back.

I know we've been seeing increased frontloading with these previews, but $17-18 million is probably the bare minimum. If it matches Guardians ratio, it gets 15.5m OD. I think thats the minimum. of course, we really haven't been able to properly gauge preview numbers yet. It's not as easy as it was with midnight numbers. So I wouldn't be surprised by a 20m+ OD. If it matches 22JS ratio, it gets a 21m OD. Giving it Guardians' ratio seems way off, as the only films with previews below $8 million that had ratios that weak were PA4 (which came from an abnormally frontloaded franchise) and Anchorman 2. Otherwise, almost all other movies have at least a 4.0 multiplier. I don't see why TMNT should be any different. I know it has fanboys, but it should also have some family appeal and more relaxed fan interest to counter that.

Million Ways To Die In The West did .89 on its way to a 16.7 Million weekend. Non-Stop, which admittedly skewed older, did .72 on its way to a 28.9 Million weekend.

 Re: TMNT Previews
It should do more than Million Ways because that would be more frontloaded due to SethMac, right?

I still believe it will probably see an opening similar to Final Destination 5. What did that do in Thursday shows out of curiosity? Does anyone know? Quote: Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Into The Storm grabbed $800K in late nights that began at 8 p.m. TMNT started at 7 PM. For a comp, it’s Red 2 which also opened at 8 p.m. in late nights, was also a PG-13 and also grossed 800K; it was an action comedy (not a disaster film) from Lionsgate but it went on to pull in $6.3M on Friday and ended up with an $18M three-day weekend. Into the Storm is on the same track. http://www.deadline.com/2014/08/box-off ... ore-806963

 Re: TMNT Previews
Damn!! $4.6m is a very good number for TMNT. Fine for Into the Storm and confirms that it won't break out.
