The action sequel has earned an estimated $134,624,389 to date.

How would you rate this film's domestic performance?

I put it at "very good." The legs were certainly impressive.

Excellent. It definitely outdid all my expectations. I expected a low opening and poor legs. It's opening has been good and it had pretty good legs just like the first one.

Excellent too. I expeced a high opening, as it did, but much worse legs, and it's going to just fall short of Taken's total, which is an achievement. Might even outgross it, but highly doubtful.

^ Agreed it is impressive that the legs were THIS good still with a much bigger opening it will fail to reach Taken's unadjusted total. For my excellent nods it needed to cross Taken's adjusted total (which in itself will not be very big in difference).

Personally, I think it would of had to have outdone Taken 2 adjusted (i.e. 160m+) to be considered excellent.

Not really. Who expected Taken 2 to outgross Taken? The things lined up perfectly for Taken. And considering it was a movie that definitely didn't need a sequel...

True. I'd also say H2 did excellent all things considered.

Straight forward action movies like this never usually break 100 million. This one cost 45 million and still made more than that in it's first 72 hours. That's excellent.

Same could have been said about Hangover 2.

Main difference - the breakout of the first film already seemed like a fluke. Seriously, I'll never understand it. Just one of the many many Luc Besson-produced films that got lucky.

Whereas The Hangover had precedence with Wedding Crashers and There's Something About Mary, those just haven't been sequelized. Meet the Parents was, though, and we know whst happened there. Same for American Pie and American Pie 2.

Therefore, yes, Taken 2's performance as a sequel to Taken is more impressive than The Hangover 2's performance as a sequel to The Hangover.

Regardless of being a fluke hit people do love Taken, the increase over OW just proved that. Taken 2 should have crossed the original's unadjusted numbers but given the movie itself the legs are pretty amazing which is why I chose "very good". If it did reach the adjusted numbers it would have been excellent.

I agree with magnus on all accounts here.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.
