Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (March 22-25)
Where the people are many and their hands are all empty Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison Where the executioner’s face is always well hidden Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten Where black is the color, where none is the number And I’ll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it Then I’ll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin’ But I’ll know my song well before I start singin’ And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard It’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall

I'm very interested in knowing what trailers are attached to The Hunger Games. I hope Lionsgate will have attached Cabin in the Woods.

Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (March 22-25)
Outstanding midnight's estimate for an outstanding film.
Showing was sold out baby.
Trailers: The Avengers - good response heading for moneeyyysss Breaking Dawn: Part 2 - lots of hate, but the fan girls were once again all over the travesty like they were with the part 1 teaser. Titanic 3D - strong response, lots of talking after the trailer ended What to Expect When You're Expecting - lots of laughs, good response overall Dark Shadows - amazing response, easily the strongest of the bunch, definitely has a lot of potential.
The Hunger Games:
BJs Grade: A-
Crowd ate it up, responses upon waling out ranged from "it was pretty good" to "I loved it". It was great and my grade could easily go up with a 2nd viewing, I really liked how envolved it felt, in the book everything is 100% Katniss, seeing a broader scope was a great touch, really well done.
I hope it busts 30m, and there total morons for assuming this film will somehow be more front-loaded than a twilight film on its opening wknd when they know full fell that it appeals to all 4 quadrants and is attracting an older audience. Fuckin moronic.
I expect 150m+

Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (March 22-25)
I saw it yesterday in a sold out audience at 12:01. Trailers were Breaking Dawn: Part 2 (which looks hilariously awful based on that 30-second spot ), Dark Shadows, Snow White and the Huntsman, Prometheus, What To Expect When You're Expecting, Titanic 3D (this got cheers, it's going to break out) and The Amazing Spider-Man.

Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (March 22-25)
I'm not terribly surprised. The Hunger Games is attracting a wide range of age groups, including younger tweens and families, and a hard-R horror film trailer would have seemed a bit out of place.

Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (March 22-25)
Off I go to see it. For some reason, the theater I'm going to felt a need to limit midnight showings to 4/12 of their screens (that were sold out 8 days ago), so hopefully it's not incredibly crowded just after noon.

If I were Lionsgate I'd still want it attached. It's their next wide release until What To Expect in May (I believe Safe moved). Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (March 22-25)
The Hunger Games, 12:45PM
-Trailers: Snow White and the Huntsman, Dark Shadows, What To Expect, The Amazing Spider-Man, House at the End of the Street. Not much of a reaction from any trailer besides What To Expect. The crowd was really into that one. Edit: forgot about Breaking Dawn Part 2. No reaction except from the boy (mentioned below) across from me saying "yuck". haha.
-Crowd: I would guess about 70% full. I was surprised when so few were there before 12:30 (Bf and I were first, there one hour early), but people finally began to show. It was a very diverse crowd. To my right was a mother who I could overhear asking her son, maybe 10 years old, if the film was like the book so far and reminding her of a few characters names. And to my left was an older lady, 50-60 perhaps and probably her daughter. Everyone appeared to enjoy the film, though the reactions were mostly subdued. There weren't too many teens (maybe less than 10) in the audience, so not that unexpected I feel.
-Movie: Very faithful to the book. It was obviously toned down a bit, but the way certain scenes were shot allowed pretty much everything to be included. Jennifer was excellent, Josh was good, and the supporting cast solid overall. The Capitol design was well-done, pre-game scenes were nice, the game itself intense, and the post-game wrap-up was great (not rushed like several Harry Potter films that really annoyed me). 8.5/10

Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (March 22-25)
THE HUNGER GAMES @ 12:15 PMProbably 30 people in attendance. There was a school English class there for one of the showings. Thankfully it wasn't mine . Some evening showings had sold out already this morning (currently the 7:30, 8:15, and 9:15 are sold out). Trailers: Breaking Dawn: Part 2 What To Expect When You're Expecting Avengers A crap bunch of trailers, IMO . The movie was AMAZING! I haven't read the books but will be now. Though I was glad I hadn't before seeing the movie as it was much more intense not knowing how things would play out. I found myself on edge several times. I found the movie incredibly involving and well-made. Jennifer Lawrence is superb as Katniss. She made me really care about the character. I also really enjoyed Josh Hutcherson. I thought the set-up was great and when the games begin it gets even better. I honestly don't think any of this summer's big budget blockbusters will be as satisfying as this (I don't expect The Dark Knight Rises to approach the greatness of The Dark Knight, though I hope I'm wrong). This is the first must-see event of the year. A

Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (March 22-25)
B+
About 60-70% full at a 2030 showing Friday night. Diverse group of people in the cinema as others have pointed out.
Trailers were Avengers, Breaking Dawn, Cabin in the Woods, Snow White...maybe another 1 or 2.
Movie was pretty good. A little long but I'll probably get into it the second time round.

Only one showtime not sold out at my theater tonight and that's at 10:00. I think they should have had this on more than three screens.

Re: Screen Counts and Crowd Reports (March 22-25)
I think many theaters planned ahead and put it on many screens.
The theaters in my area that have the sellouts are the ones that have the film only 2-3 screens.
the ones that have it 4-5 screens have some sellouts.

Did anyone else have House at the End of the Street as a featured trailer?
