Doesn't sound bad at all, but I'm expecting it's Friday to be very frontloaded.

I'd definitely say impressive:

Bruno (7/10/09) - $1.6 million (Nearly 700)
Immortals (11/11/11) - $1.4 million (900)
Rise of the Planet of the Apes (8/5/11) - $1.254 million (1,124)
The Hangover (6/5/09) - $1 million (760)
2012 (11/13/09) - $1 million
The Last Exorcism (8/27/10) - $750,000
Cowboys and Aliens (7/29/11) - $700,000 (1,200)
Battle: Los Angeles (3/11/11) - $700,000

Though obviously not the best comparison, if it followed Immortals ratio, that's a $26.3 million weekend.

Even beating The Hangover's summer opening is incredibly impressive, despite movies becoming more frontloaded over the years.

I'm just wondering who went and saw this at a midnight show. People are lowering their standards.

I think it's pretty frontloaded with The Hangover being so prominent in the marketing. Hangover 2 was immensely frontloaded for the genre.

Teen party flix and found footage are both very frontloaded in general, and now they are combined.

So true, but it does not mean that its midnight numbers are unexpected and great

For most colleges, Thursday night is the biggest night to party. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people pre gamed, went to a midnight screening, then partied some more

Seems to me like the film lends itself to being seen at midnight. Epic partying is practically synonymous with staying up after midnight. Some have begun Spring Break as well.

Whatever the reason a great midnight number! It looks like it could open well. Personally the movie looks horrible to me. Awful trailer.

When I saw it with Safe House it got a huge reaction, I could see this playing very well with the Urban Crowd and college crowd. The film looks stupid, but so are most drunk partiers, a lot of people can relate

Lots of colleges start Spring Break today, so that's definitely a factor. But $1.15m is excellent, I think.

That's really great for it, IMO. Too bad. I was hoping this would flop. It definitely helps though when studios advertise prominently in their ads about midnight screenings.

Is the Thursday party phenom because people who are the biggest partiers mostly try to arrange their schedules so that they don't have Friday classes? Otherwise I don't get why Thursday is bigger than Fri - I agree that it is pretty big though. Do bars have a lot of Thursday night specials? I'm not a drinker.

A lot of college students don't take Friday classes so they party on Thursday night to unwind. Some bars do have specials though. I used to go to one that a trivia night on Thursday.

Well I know Friday is often times the lowest amount of classes in session in a given week, a lot of sports are Thursday nights, and almost all of the Frats almost always had pledging or their bigger parties on Thursday. Also, as most college kids are under age a lot of the kids like to party on Thursday because Fri and Sat usually mean more cops looking to break up parties and what not.

Keep trying to deny it. This had all the makings of a hit even if it doesn't appeal to this sub-forum. I bet it didn't cost more than $5-10 million either.

I might have to agree that Thursday > Friday/Saturday, at least IN college. After graduation? Friday.

Thursday and Saturday nights were the big party times when I was at UVA. Friday was usually more quiet.

I work on a big 10 campus with lots of bars nearby - I often see long lines at various bars on a Thurs night even when it's stupid cold outside.

no one cares about what life was like in the 90s libs.

I was actually more speaking about life in the 2000s but OK.

Also, my cousin is a junior (or third year, as we called ourselves) there now and claims it's exactly the same. #thisconversationisirrelevant

That's a very good mid night number.

And I agree with Magnus cause that makes more sense to me. If you are going to quietly drink today with your friends at your place then rather watch a movie today before the actual party starts over Friday. Not saying Friday will be smaller or something due to this.....

Yes maybe I'm a 90s (and 00s) fossil like Libs but Thursdays were always a big going out night when i was in college. Even more recently its probably the best night to party. Its not bigger than Fri/Sat but its better.

Great number for Project X. Always expected it to open well.

I think partying is pointless on Thursday is pointless for working people, yet I still here and see people do that.
I know Friday is casual Friday but you have to do work lol.
