1.5 billion could happen if Japan ends up over 30 million.

I see another $20m from domestic run and possibly $25m for $630m total in the end, plus another $3m from holdovers for a total of $1.475b total. At this point $30m from Japan would make it past $1.5b mark so yeah I think $1.5b looks highly likely. Wonder if Hobbit can reach $1.5b total even with $1b OS takings.

Hobbit will depend on how it fares in North America. It can go anywhere from $350 to $550m IMO, I'd peg it at $450-$475m right now.

Waiting for Japan now, can it break $900m with that market? Big ask would be HUGE breakout there.

OMG - - The Avengers is less than $1.5 billion away from catching up to Avatar worldwide, and less than $1 billion to go to catch Titanic - - that's too close for comfort! :whaa:

The thing with the Hobbit is that it has been a hell of while since RotK; people have had a lot of time to get over LotR. Plus, Hobbit isn't a prequel that everyone has been asking for for years. So it's not like the Star Wars prequels; it's more like Indiana Jones 4.

As for Avengers, I think it will be bigger in Japan than what would be normally expected, just like it has been everywhere else. HP8's overseas gross is safe though.

Yeah, I don't know what world you live in. People have been speculating about when it'd be made since before LOTR concluded.

It looks like Japan is going to push this over $1.5 billion after all, if Corpse's long-term prediction is accurate. Very impressive.

It is already very close to $1.48b it WAS going to make $20m in Japan for sure, so $1.5b is not really a surprise IMO.

I'm glad it's the biggest superhero movie ever. It deserves it although I didn't think it was brilliant. It entertained me no-end.
