RELEASE DATES:

All the major markets receive HP7-2 on the first week, which bodes very well for its chances to become the first movie to top $400m WW opening and beat HP6's $237m overseas opening.

Pirates 4 has first bite though in May 2011, though its release seem to be missing a couple of major markets in the first week such as Australia and Argentina. The edge belongs to HP7-2 though.

Slovakia July 2011
France 13 July 2011
Argentina 14 July 2011
Australia 14 July 2011

There's no doubt that HP1's 10 year overseas record for the franchise will fall next year. HP7-I didn't set sparks fly, but that movie looks to finish within about $10m of HP1's $657m.

With 3D and action, there's nothing stopping this movie from hitting $700m OS. HP5 showed that it can fight it out with other big releases like Transformers in the same month and should they play the "final release" card to the max combined with 3D, this can go very high indeed.

The target is of course ROTK's $742m Unadjusted, which i think it will pass with 3D. Heck if they re-release HP7-1 in 3D, it will surely outgross HP1's $657m in its 2nd run.

Lecter if you're predicting $750m+ overseas, that means that according to the Worldwide 2011 Top 10 you are predicting around $345m Domestic, are you sure?

I think it has potential for above $350m+ Domestic with 3D and will break $1.1billion. They are so going to kill the marketing for this, it's going to be huge.

The domestic box-office of Potter films has always been overpredicted.

Nope I think Part 1 showed that the potential audience haven't increased over the years no matter what part it is. DH2 would needs great WOM even more deafening than HP1 to get more audience. And do remember that the movies are getting very dark for young children so there is a potential loss of audience every movie.

295m with a 30% 3D bump (80% of tickets sold in 3D) would be 375m, I think the film has an outside shot at 400m domestic if it can manage to get 85%+ of its tickets sold in 3D.

Its clear that it won't beat it in admissions, but with 3D and i'm sure a huge marketing push, this will do much better than the previous 2 Potters.

I see minimum $350m Domestic and $750m+ Overseas.

If there's any movie with a chance at $400m next year, it's this one, followed possibly by Transformers 3 and Pirates 4. Nothing else will come close.

Final Trailer Out!, The Big Guns of Summer are finally here, massive trailers for both TF3 and Harry Potter.

Both are equally amazing i think, this one is surely looking like the best one yet, plenty of battles, plenty of mind blowing VFX. Just what HP7-1 wasn't.

So excited, $350m here we come

In Australia, one of the larger movie chains will be re-releasing all 7 Potter films the month leading up to the final film's release. Tickets are apparently under half price.

Tempted, though i already have it on DVD ;)

Anyone know when its releasing in China and Russia. If it's part of this opening weekend that it's going to be ginormous.....even without openings in China dn Russia, i still think it will easily take down Pirates 4's opening records.

Pirates' overseas performance makes me think that $800+ million OS is happening here.

^Agreed Pirates with 3D did gangbusters and this should repeat the trend...the last part was the first one to cross the OS total of HP1. I see this one crossing $700m-$750m....$800m is yet to be seen though

I think it's almost a given that $800m will be assured with 3D. In fact, if it doesn't hit $800m i'll be slightly dissapointed, this is afterall the final release in the franchise.

Pirates 4 is headed for at leats $750m, Potter will play better in Europe and that should be the big difference.

The reason why I am skeptical is that HP has shown downtrend in many markets even with growth of markets and inflation. 3D will surely help it but if the admissions continue to stay as they are going right now $800m might not be assured.
