 Re: Weekend Estimates (August 13-15)
The Expendables actually had a slightly better IM than Inglourious Basterds if the numbers hold. Kinda surprising.

Full Estimates Here - http://www.boxoffice.com/statistics/bo_ ... 2010-08-15. Hmm if TE can manage to have solid holds like this in the upcoming weeks it actually has a shot at grossing 100M+ domestic although $80M is ALOT more likely. I'm not betting on it , but it's deffentially possible. Also absolutely terrible numbers for Scott Pilgrim. There is a BIG chance it will go under $30M now.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (August 13-15)
Wow very nice for TE I thought it will be way more frontloaded than this, just OK for EPL I thought it will clear 25m mark, of course disappointing for SP but this was expected. And good numbers for tracking they nailed all the openers this weekend

 Re: Weekend Estimates (August 13-15)
Very strong opening for The Expendables. I have no idea how this won't avoid terrible legs, but I've been surprised before.
Eat Pray Love is right around where I expected. It won't gross $100M, but it looks good for at least $80M. Nice numbers for Julia after Duplicity underperformed.
The Other Guys avoided a 50% drop, so that's a success. And another relatively strong hold for Inception.
Scott Pilgrim was always destined to be a cult hit, so this doesn't surprise me all that much. It's still less than I expected, though.
Despicable Me is still one of the summer's biggest success stories. Salt looks like it has enough gas to hit $120M.
Toy Story 3=$400M=yay.
Very disappointing hold this weekend for The Kids Are All Right. The movie is wonderful and really deserved to do better in wide release than its sparkling limited numbers indicated. It will still make at least $20M on a $4M budget, though, and is probably good for at least a few Oscar noms.
Looks like Flipped won't be going wide.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (August 13-15)
According to latimes The Expendables got a B+ Cinemascore, ETPLV got a B Cinemascore and Scott Pilgrim got an A - Cinemascore. Also in a more suprising twist 40% of Expendables audience was female. The movie seems to have alot more broader appeal than expected. Link - http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/enterta ... ox_office/.

They wanted to see all the muscled up old farts. Something for older women as opposed to Twilight.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (August 13-15)
I could see a sub-20% Sunday drop for The Expendables. District 9 did it last year, although that had better WOM. Can't see Eat Pray Love drop that low on Sunday though.

The Sunday drops for the top two are a little too generous.

Stallone's first 20+ weekend since Rambo II. What is even more fantastic is the fact that over 60% of the audience was under 25.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (August 13-15)
Great for TE, Lionsgate must be happy. Some interesting demographics for TE, unexpected even you could say. Terrible for Pilgrim, just terrible. Hopefully Inception goes up with actuals. wrongturn687 wrote: According to latimes The Expendables got a B+ Cinemascore, ETPLV got a B Cinemascore and Scott Pilgrim got an A - Cinemascore. This just proves how meaningless Cinemascore is in the grand scheme of things. A good Cinemascore for Pilgrim means nothing if it couldn't find a broad audience to begin with.

 Re: Weekend Estimates (August 13-15)
Yeah, it doesn't necessarily mean anything. Didn't GROWN UPS have a C+ Cinema Score? And that had great legs. And EPL got the weakest of the openers yet will have the best legs.

Not surprised that many women would opt for The Expendables over forgetable drama fluff like this latest Julia Roberts turd.

Mr. Magnus wrote: Should get a total around 80m-90m and break 200m+ WW which should be enough to greenlight a potential sequel. They may as well greenlight two. Just like they milked the SAW franchise for all it was worth, they can do the same with this. There are still plenty of washed up action stars they can add to the mix, like Seagal, Norris, and Van Damme, for example.
