 Re: Weekend Actuals
That's the actual, since it's not the one decimal update BOG sometimes did early in the morning in the past.
A little overestimated, but still a very good Sunday since the over-estimation was minimal.

 Re: Weekend Actuals
So TE made more in its opening weekend than fellow Lionsgate release The Punisher('04) made in its entire run(unadjusted of course). Nice.

 Re: Weekend Actuals
Not a bad result for TE at all. It's weekend multiplier was ALOT better than Saw 3 despite it opening bigger. Both had very similar theatre counts and close OW, but Saw 3 was obviously more frontloaded.

Since my post asking this was deleted, I'll ask it here and harp on the question whenever the urge strikes me. Why did a shit movie like Eat Pray Love have a 60 million dollar budget?

Julia Roberts' salary was $10 million. The film was shot in four countries (USA, Italy, India, Indonesia). Also, SONY had to purcahase the rights to the book for at least several million dollars.

When is the last time she brought in enough of an audience on her name to justify 8 figures? She couldn't even headline a classic like Charlotte's Web to box office glory. She's coasting on her past, apparently. She's clearly being outclassed at the box office by Angelina Jolie.

 Re: Weekend Actuals
Charlotte's Web was voice work which I don't consider to really show the following of an actor. See Eddie Murphy in Shrek be a success and how his life action movies do bomb horribly.
If you take the last 5 real life action movies of both actresses (not counting SALT or EPL as they still are on release and we don't know the final gross), Roberts movies have made an average of $75m and Jolie's $64m. Roberts is just taking longer between movies and it seems that she is out of the spotlight.

She hasn't headline a role in years. At this stage, I don't think she gives a shit. She won a Oscar and is now getting very picky about her roles.

 Re: Weekend Actuals
If you consider Cameron Diaz still makes 20 million despite almost never headlining any successful films, Julia Roberts and her caliber of actress is quite the bargain. Roberts still aligns herself with talented directors, costars, and doesn't really need to headline as much as she used to.
What's even more shocking is the Expendables only cost 20 million more than Eat Pray Love. Stallone is slowly becoming a master of maintaining budgets. Rocky 24 million (150 WW) Rambo 50 (150 WW and DVD Sales) Expendables 80 (at least 200 WW at this point)
