 Resident Evil:Afterlife predictions...
This movie is in 3D and comes out on September 10th 2010.
It can easily do $65+M domestically.
But the RE movies have increased in popularity overseas...
RE1 - $62+M RE2 - $78+M RE3 - $97+M
With 3D ticket prices I can see this doing $130+M OS!!!!
Worldwide - $195+M WW
Could even do $200+M WW.

 Re: Resident Evil:Afterlife predictions...
I'm not sure about easily doing 65 million considering the last dropped slightly. I think it can manage a 25-30 opening though as I think the last was the best received.

 Re: Resident Evil:Afterlife predictions...
Extinction only dropped from Apocalypse because Sony removed it from theaters. It was on task to out gross RE2, but Sony, for whatever reason, pulled it when it was just $500k short. It was going to do it. It did it worldwide, though. Almost $20mil more.
It seems the teaser trailer will be on Nightmare on Elm Street on April 30th. I hope it's as good as RE2 and RE3's teasers.

Hmm, I think $70 million might happen.

An increase similar to The Final Destination from the other films strikes me as pretty likely.
Opening: $29.5 million Total: $66.8 million (2.26)

Personally, I think it looks a lot cooler than the last one. I've never been a fan of the desert wasteland setting.
Although it's very difficult to tell Ali Larter and Milla Jovovich apart when they're both wearing sexy black leather. How this will affect it's box office is undetermined.
$30.5M opening $65M total

 Re: Resident Evil:Afterlife predictions...
Something to ponder: could this break $200 million WW? The series has been really popular overseas, and last one nearly doubled its domestic gross. And I would assume that this kind of 3D feature will have more appeal than most of the other 3D features as of late.

It is hard to believe that this is the #1 video game franchise. Of course most are garbage, these have been fun movies for the most part even when straying from the games at times. I am interested in this one more because the best villain from the games, Albert Wesker will be in it along with Chris Redfield.

Whatever happened to Silent Hill 2?
Do they just not think it's worth it? But shizz, the second game was the best one.

The last one was fairly weak and a step down from the second, which has been my favorite of them by far. The fourth looks cool though. It should easily be the highest grosser of the series yet. It has the weekend to itself and the 3D will help. Opening weekend: 30.4 Million

 Re: Resident Evil:Afterlife predictions...
Hmm so there are more people who like the second one afterall. That movie gets ALOT hate everywhere else, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy that one the most so far. I liked the third one too, but there weren't nearly enough monsters for my liking and the potrayl of Wesker sucked. The action was better though. As for this one I think it looks good, but I'm really getting annoyed with all the damn slow-mo in the trailers and I hope the actual movie doesn't turn out having slow-mo in every action scene.
:My Prediction: $26.3M OW / $59M DOM

 Re: Resident Evil:Afterlife predictions...
I srsly just saw a very, very good TV spot for this.
It looks like they had an actual budget, and made the movie look pretty and bright. And the excitement level for it appears higher than all the others. It almost seems event-y? I mean, clearly not a blockbuster or anything, but it seems like people are aware of it a lot more than the past entries.
I think $65m, bitches. With an RE5 in 2013.

 Re: Resident Evil:Afterlife predictions...
My final prediction was:
Opening Weekend - $31.4 million
Total Gross - $69 million
Looks like it'll do a bit worse than that, though.
