Outstanding. I hope the actual number isn't too far off. It seems to me that it could make anywhere between $40m and $45m this weekend, with somewhere near the middle of those numbers being most likely. (My prediction: $41.6 million; I probably would have raised it a tiny bit had I known Thursday's estimate.)

For the record, if the estimate holds, Inception will be the 50th film to hit the $100 million mark in 7 days or less. Nice, eh?

Too awesome. Will be a most interesting Fri # to see, to get an idea of how much IMAX has to do with this. But what a great run to watch.

One of the cooler things about it is how early we're getting the numbers every day.

If it increases 45%, there's a very good chance it'll still be a sub-35% drop.

Good stuff. I'd recommend Pirates of the Caribbean as a comparison as well. Except for having a Wednesday opening for POTC, the two are quite comparable IMO, both releasing in July, enjoying excellent WOM for an original film, and having similar midweek dailies.

You are probably right. It is the combination of underestimating the effect of IMAX on TDK the last time I did it, and the underperformance of so many big films this year. I left the breaks on this week to be safe.

Almost flat from from Wednesday, excellent number for Inception. The dream is real!

I am waiting for the weekend to bring out POTC and perhaps Sixth Sense to set the upper limit. I thought WC would fill the role of POTC, but it is actually keeping pace quite well with WC, at the moment. Much better than I had envisioned on Monday.

Definitely a better Thursday than I would have ever imagined, though I'm still worried the Friday increase won't be as grand as we're hoping.... Maybe I'm just still in the fetal position after Toy Story 3.
