Officially, hands down, the most anticipated film of all time to this point; this is a record that will last for a very long time.
Star Wars isn't coming remotely close to this.

This really came at the very end of huge openers calming down. SW main trilogy is ending and I don't see any franchise getting close to this record anytime in next 5 years. All the HUGE openers are opening this year anyways

The $153M number is only an estimate from Gitesh. An insider on BOT and Deadline are both saying its actually closer to $157-$159M. Actually, Deadline just updated it to $158.3M.

I agree that if Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Spiderman take over the series, X-Men are involved, etc. you could build up another massive event film one day. But the whole wiping out half the characters cliffhanger was the genius move here.

I just can't imagine anything in the next 10 years doing these types of numbers. Whenever we get to the next Avengers movie that one will probably open above IW but at these levels? I doubt it.
