September 15-17 predictions (A Haunting in Venice)
Somehow this is the first of the Poirot movies to be released in September.
I think they overthought it with their choice of book by not just picking the 3rd or 4th most popular one with him and then changing the name to make it sound like a generic horror movie.

I'm thinking an opening identical to Nile. Could even go sub-12m.

Did zwack get demoted or something? This is usually his thread to create.
Anyway, I think Haunting looks good, so I'm going with a $15.5m opening, and a decent run to $46m.

Re: September 15-17 predictions (A Haunting in Venice)
Nile came out not too long after the Armie news and during omicron so certainly feels like this should be able to do better. Pulled a 3.54X multiplier too. That compares to Orient Express' 3.59X multiplier. The last movie was also before older adults were going back to theaters (pre-TGM). At the same time, the marketing has been strange and may be a miss.

Probably $14-16m which would be solid.
I still think these films should be so much better. The cast and potential is there but they are lacklustre and dull.

I was thinking this would really flop. Like high single digits. But very positive reviews has me thinking it might do a bit better. I still would think just 12-14 tops though. And I don't even think I'm ready to predict that much.

Re: September 15-17 predictions (A Haunting in Venice)
Orient Express had a $55M budget, Nile a $90M budget, and Haunting has a $60M budget.
So rare to see a budget go down in the franchise but gives this more room to be a modest success given the bar is so much lower for breaking even.

Previews are looking around 1.5m and probably another 150K-200K from limited early shows today. Probably will do 12-13m OW.
