 Early Transformers OD Guesstimates Quote: WEDNESDAY 9:45 PM: It's now a rock-em, sock-em summer! Sources tell me that Paramount's Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen today has shattered the Wednesday opening record set by Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix in 2007: $55+M to $44.2M. The robot sequel grosses from 4,234 North American theaters are $10M more than Paramount was expecting. That puts the sci-fi actioner on track for at least a $170M five-day opening and probably more like $175M-$180M despite overwhelmingly lousy reviews. But this sequel is reviewer-proof. Bitchin'.

WAY WAY higher then any normal prediction.
The film is over performing now and come Sunday the 5-day will be something we will look back at and we will be shocked.
The film has just started, the weekend is yet to come.

Even by the reviews being bad, I think this is way way above Spider Man 3.

Their eating this shit up, even a lot of my girlfriends love it. We all may hate it, but this is going to get fine WOM and have legs closer to DMC than SM3.
55m+ Wed= at least 180m 5-day. It won't be as frontloaded as you may think, a lot of 25+ are waiting for the weekend, look for a 40% increase friday.

That's because Spider-Man 2 set the bar high with almost universal love from critics and a really good WOM. TF2 was supposed to be kind of dumb for the beginning. It's understandable and expected. SP3 needed a good story and character development. TF2 just needs freaking robots and explosions.

Re: Early Transformers OD Guesstimates look, the next biggest thing to a big weekend this year will be Hp6 and that will be lucky to get near 150 million for the 5-day.
So nghtvsn, I think its very interesting the opening of TF2. We have not see a film so open so big initially and then get a huge weekend. It will be interesting to see what it does over the opening weekend. I think the 5-day will be nice and big.
Plus I am not a hater that much, (okay I hate Spiderman 3).
