The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
Well, tickets went for sale on Monday and now 48 hours later we're getting reports of midnight showings already selling out, most Imax screens. Pre Sale Comparison: TDK from 6/24/08 Pirates 2 from 7/6/06:

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
^They are tickets sold at ticket both...i.e. since Monday, 20 people have gone up to the ticket both at Fabs theater and purchased them, 17 for the midnght showing and 3 for later on in Friday.
RE-numbers-Whoa. Expected, but still thats is a huge number for a normal theater this early. The only sellouts I expect to see before Hancock opens are the Imax ones (which are great, because the tickets at $15 or more and they seat in excess of 500 people). After Hancock opens is when presales will really spike for this film.
Ima do some digging and try to find Spidey and Pirates presales. I really think TDK will break 12 million in Midnight showings, assuming it opens on a Friday and theres no 8 or 10 p.m. showings. This could be a Pirates 2 where opening day it simply sells out every showing, which, given what will be a massive screen and theater count, it'll need give it 2 1/2 hour run time.

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
Movietickets.com is another place to check for sellouts. One of the most popular theaters in Houston is the AMC Gulf Pointe 30, but they do not have ticketing available yet for it. That sucker's midnight shows will be sold out for sure. It's just a regular theater though, no IMAX.

Isn't that huge for Pirates 2? 409 1 month before release? By the way, these are just from 1 guy's theatre right? As in, 409 tickets sold at notfabio's place or whatever.

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
I dont think that is one month before release. That number for DMC must be on the release week.

I don't know if I like the Wall-E numbers. Sorta wish it's FRI number was lower, and it's SAT a bit higher.

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
Dark Knight Sales Eight Times as Much as Spider-Man 3Quote: WOW. Fandango is reporting that dozens of showtimes for The Dark Knight are already sold out for the midnight screenings on Thursday night/Friday morning, July 17th. That’s right, even with a full three weeks before the film hits, screenings have begun to sell out. A few theaters have begun to add 3:00am showtimes on Friday morning to help meet the consumer demand.
Update: As of June 27, “Dark Knight†has sold eight times as many tickets on MovieTickets.com as “Spider-Man 3″ at the same point in the sales cycle  21 days from the film’s official release. “Spider-Man 3″ is the No. 10 film on MovieTickets.com’s Top-10 Performing Films of All-Time. Wha.

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
UH OH, maybe records will fall? Man it would be funny if Dark Knight has a 62 million OD and then falls to 31 million Saturday and 28 million Sunday. Still, that would give it what, 121 million? Not bad

Wowww
I haven't really been researching, but I did notice the midnight showing on the IMAX screen at the Lincoln Square theater in Manhattan already sold out.

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
eight times bigger than Spider-man 3?! Uhh.....asdfknawefol what?!!?!
That makes zero sense, but hell, that makes $100m+ sound extraordinarily reasonable now.

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
^^
its just number of tickets sold by movietickets.com. That is anyway a small percentage of overall 1st weekend gross. Majority of folks just walk into the theater.
But it just shows the anticipation for the movie and these kind of news further helps its OW. At this point I cant see it not breaking DMC's OW.

IMAX will be massive and will make the difference between lets say 100 million and 110 million.
