Re: Production Budgets
Great budget for Taken 2 should clear that mark over OW. Good for Frankenweenie as well.
Before the opening I would have said that Hotel Transylvania had a risky budget not bad by any means but risky. Great for Looper and Pitch Perfect.
Budget wise Won't back down could have gone a little lower but it would still had come on a loosing end.

Neeson must have a terrible agent. He should be getting $20M+ for Taken 2. Unless he is getting a large % of the gross too. This is a guaranteed hit that would not work without him.

Re: Production Budgets
Didn't they film on location in Istanbul? That must have been expensive.

Re: Production Budgets
Instant hit for Sinister. Great budget for Argo and 7 Psychopaths as well.
Here Comes the Boom SHOULD have done in $30m.

Re: Production Budgets
How is that a great budget for Argo yet Boom should be $30m?
Weird reasoning, if any.

Re: Production Budgets
I can see where Sparrow is coming from. Argo is an international (and period) action/suspense film. Costumes, locations, etc. Considering Body of Lies cost 70 million and Green Zone cost a whopping 100 plus million, this is definitely an admirable and modest budget. Here Comes the Boom's budget isn't godawful or close to it, but it is maybe a tad expensive for a Kevin James vehicle largely set in a high school. Amazing number for Sinister. Good ol' horror movies.

Re: Production Budgets
Exactly what David said the overall production and setup for Argo looks way better than Boom. Not only that recreating some of the riots, the movie production (even the fake one) generally takes more money IMO.
Frank Corachi has been getting away with higher budgets mostly banking on Sandler's name and this time mostly wont be the case even though he has trimmed down his budget from last few movies. James is no longer as hot as he was during Zookeeper's release. Plus Boom looks very generic to be as costly, now it is not really bad still a $30m budget for this kind of movie seems enough IMO.

Great for both movies. Can't believe they make PA movies so cheap and make so much profit over OW

Well as expected huge budget for Cloud Atlas. Regular numbers for the other two.

Re: Production Budgets
Naah I highly doubt there will be too many people interested in it unless the reviews are out of the world. It could easily be this year's Skyline just with bigger budget.

Re: Production Budgets
Do you think lower numbers mean "good"?
That's way too much for Fun Size. Should've been $5m. Same for Chasing Mavericks and Silent Hill. No more than $12m apiece.

Re: Production Budgets
20 million is a very modest budget for Silent Hill: Revelation. Less than half of the first film's. It will turn a significant profit after international and Blu-ray/DVD receipts are counted.

Re: Production Budgets
Fun Size and Chasing Mavericks do not look cheap IMO so for them this budget is fine IMO. It cannot be helped that the bombed this badly.
