$25m CONTRABAND
$25m JOYFUL NOISE

Disney spent less than $10 million to convert "Beauty" to 3-D.

That's great number for both the new opener. B&B should get their money back regardless.

Wow, crazy good budget for Contraband! Especially since it's a Universal movie.

Between Wahlberg, a solid supporting cast, a few international locations, and the action sequences, I would've bet on a 50-60 mil. budget.

The Grey: 25 mil.
One for the Money: 40
Man on a Ledge: 42 (though Summit claims their exposure is in the 10 mil. range)

Impressive for Chronicle and Woman In Black. Chronicle looks very SFX-filled, and WIB just seems to have a kind of visual polish you expect from a more expensive production. I assumed they were both 30+ million movies.

Yeah if that number holds than that is a great number for Hunger Games.

WIB never looked like it would be costly to me anyways. Chronicle's number is really fascinating, it looks like visual-filled movie which generally spikes the production numbers.

Vow is a hit. Journey 2, meh, I guess it's "deserved" because it was guaranteed to do well overseas.

That's just way too much for Safe House. Something like that should cost no more than $60m.

Denzel gives it decent OS appeal but still Universal still clueless. It's not even a Scott film.

That's alot for Safe House, but they have been marketing the hell out of it for a while. I remember seeing tv spots ever since the end of December and those Superbowl ads ain't cheap either.

That is a bit high for Safe House and yes the cast salary would have been higher still rest of the movie doesn't look too costly by any means. Expected numbers for Journey and great for The Vow.

This weekend is also a little costly but then GR2 was kinda expected and I would go and say that is a good budget. TMW could have done better with the cost but it will still be a financial success with OS numbers.

Let's see how much of the "official" figure Disney releases if they release it at all. Given the HUGE marketing campaign behind John Carter I won't be surprised by a $300m+ WW budget, but none of that will surface anyways.

I wonder if Disney is interested in greenlighting my script. It's set on Mars.

Does it prominently feature moms?

If so, no sale.

It does. The plot turns on this brooding, handsome Civil War era rogue trying to save the abducted moms.

"We might just be able to greenlight it on the condition that the marketing will never, ever mention Mars, or moms, or the civil war."

A 250 million dollar period piece with no stars, based on a niche sci-fi property with no real marketing hook and a director making his live-action debut. What could possibly go wrong?

250m should only ever go to a very well know and popular property.

I can't even think of a property worth that risk for the first installment.

Spiderman would have been. Harry Potter.

Not that it's needed, or pays off.
