 Re: Friday Numbers (MCN)
irons gonna drop right 52-53%. i dont see a drop under 50%
iron man didnt get 12.5, that would be only 130%ish increase.

I edited to BOM, which seems more accurate than MCN.

 Re: Friday Numbers (BOM)
Now that's better.
Great hold for Iron Man, great opening for What Happens in Vegas and even more poor for Speed Racer, but not unexpected. Still a strong weekend.

Don't forget Mothers' Day is on Sunday. The chick flicks should see stronger multipliers than normal. It will probably be enough to push What Happens in Vegas over a 3x multiplier to $20M+

 Re: Friday Numbers (BOM)
Iron Man keeps surprising me. Looks like it'll drop less than 50% for the weekend.

SR might make less than 20 mill.

 Re: Friday Numbers (BOM)
Overall thoughts:
A great hold for Iron Man considering just how massive it opened last weekend. It could potentially see a drop lower than 50%, which would be quite a feat.
A solid $20M opening for What Happens in Vegas is in store.
Speed Racer is just a fiasco, really. It will open lower than even Poseidon did on this weekend.
Not a good hold at all for Made of Honor. My girlfriends who saw it told me it was horrible, so I'm not surprised.
Baby Mama and Forgetting Sarah Marshall continue to hold up relatively well in the face of direct competition yet again (Vegas) this weekend.
What were they thinking releasing Redbelt wide? It will have lower than $1,000 PTA.

 Re: Friday Numbers (BOM)
Pretty solid hold for Iron Man. It's looking at a drop right at 50%, which is solid considering that superhero films usually suffer larger drops.
Solid start for Vegas, which does indeed come out the highest opener of the weekend.
Speed Racer is a dud. It even came in below Poseidon's start. It's tough to believe that the Wachowski Brothers have fallen this far after they were the talk of the town this time half a decade ago.
All in all, it's a nice weekend, and next weekend should be solid with the opening of Prince Caspian.

 Re: Friday Numbers (BOM)
Shit. Finally we get an innovative and fresh blockbuster, yet it bombs while I'm sure generic crap like Zohan and Narnia will make a killing.

Mamet makes another bomb. The Wammalammadingdongskis suffer. Narnia well-positioned.

Yep, SPEED RACER disappointed. No surprise there.
I thought WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS would do a little better but it still did really good.

Films don't really get hurt by Mother's Day ususally. They either see a better Sunday hold or a normal drop. Iron Man is heading toward 50m+ for sure. It only needs a 3.3 IM.

 Re: Friday Numbers (BOM)
No real surprise as Speed Racer falls off the face of the earth. No one wants to see the worst CGI ever created. This is the first true bomb of the year.
Amazing hold for Iron Man. It should easily get above 50 mil for the weekend and a sub 50% drop. For any movie that opens near or above 100 mil, a sub 50% drop is amazing.

Disappointing for Speed Racer, it looks like a HELL of a movie. And according to Yoshue, it is.
I can't wait to see it tonight or tomorrow!

But, they also had the first Narnia in the mid 40's (and it opened 20M higher), something that may be important with their tracking for Prince Caspian. I think RS MIGHT rely too heavily on online signs, which isnt too smart for films like Narnia, and Shrek (tracking by both RS and MTC underestimated the Shrek sequels) and they had little online signs compared to every other event film.
