The Spiderwick Chronicles OVER The Golden Compass Club
The Spiderwick Chronicles will outgross The Golden Compass club.
So, anyone else agree?

Pfft.
This should be comparable to Bridge To Terabithia. Since they are very similar, and SC's marketing isnt as misleadling like Bride's was. It also has a 100M budget, so I expect them to push it pretty hard.

I'll join.
Don't see why it can't pull another Bridge to Terabithia. There's gonna be like no kids flicks in the market (I think, don't feel like checking), it's probably getting heavy advertisement, and Golden Compass "only" grossed like $65m, it's not hard to top.

Yeah, but...assuming that Disney doesn't change the release plan, Hannah is zero competition, technically. It'll be the lone kids flick on a holiday weekend.

In. This can definitely become another Bridge to Terabithia. It'll also get some help from IMAX.

I guess I'll join. When Golden Compass was out I heard a lot more people talk more about Spiderwick then Golden Compass no lie. Also Hannah Montana is pretty much a concert so it will give kids something to see for a week and what not but then who knows what kids will see after that.

I think it will, because it will have no competition coming into the weekend.

In. Hannah Montana will be done by then (presumably), it's a big fantasy flick, it will have a really hard push on Nickelodeon, and it has the added benefit of IMAX. It won't pull in huge numbers, but $70 million should be attainable.

hhmmm The appeal for this movie doesnt seem that much different than Water Horse. Is this Spiderwick even based on a novel with a big following?
Paramount probably knows the movie wont do too well so they pretty much attached the Indiana Jones trailer to try to boost the ticket sales

Re: The Spiderwick Chronicles OVER The Golden Compass Club
Honestly, I think this will depend on whether or not the Indy trailer is attached to it. I see SC finishing either a few million below or above GC and I think that the Indy trailer will ultimately decide which one it is.

It looks pretty bad, but without any real competition, that's pretty likely at this point. $70m for an expensive family film in February is an easy mark to pass.
