Opening Christmas Day: ROCKY BALBOA vs BLACK CHRISTMAS
I'm not exactly sure WHY There releasing these 2 movie's on a Sunday instead of the Friday before Christmas to actually try and make some $$$, but which movie will win on Christmas Day considering both movie's open on the same day??? ROCKY BALBOA, Better known as ROCKY 6, or Hollywood's Raping of the Remake of the 1974 Horror Classic BLACK CHRISTMAS?? Which will you see FIRST on Christmas Day??

Alright.. Why release a movie on Monday as opposed to Friday??? Isn't there more than 1 movie that opens on Christmas Day?? What about CHARLOTTE'S WEB?? Nevermind.. IMDB says it's out Dec 15th.. I guess when I'm seeing the commercials for these movie's I've mentioned they bill as quote "This Christmas" which sort of meant to me that either ROCKY or CHARLOTTE'S WEB would be released Christmas Day.. What movie's besides BLACK CHRISTMAS are opening up on a Monday of all days???

Films are released on Christmas Day every year. Christmas Day and the day after Christmas are one of the biggest movie-going days of the holiday.

Yeah...I'm pretty sure Black Christmas is the only wide wide Christmas Day opener this year (I believe Children of Men isgoing to be limited and I'm not sure how many theaters Dreamgirls is expanding to).
But, I see Black Christmas getting trounced anyway, so it's not like it really matters.

Doesnt Rocky Balboa come out on the 20th, a Wednesday? I think Black Christmas is going to Bomb, so I dont see the comparison at all.

Black Christmas won't do well but it could do somewhat okay with its holiday tie-in. Still think they should have released it at least a few days before Christmas. I'll be seeing it for sure since I like the Final Destination films and this is from the same people.

According to FilmJerk, Children of Men is opening wide on the 25th. According to BOM, it's a limited release. I'm inclined to trust the former, since BOM had All the King's Men listed as a limited release until seven days before its release, whereas FilmJerk always had it pegged as a moderate wide release.

Black Christmas has little going for it outside of the Christmas tie-in, and I truly don't believe the masses will welcome a slasher flick on the biggest holiday of the year (for most people). Christmas Day will see plenty of business, but this will get stepped on by the other solid offerings in what is a very viable marketplace.

Well, both Darkness and Wolf Creek did decent being released on Christmas and I'm sure a performance around what those two received is what The Weinstein Company and MGM are looking for, perhaps a little more because of the tie-in and the fact that it isn't an Australian film which may have turned some people off Wolf Creek.

Thank you, despite the fact that no other movie is opening on Christmas day besides Black Christmas so the title of this thread is pointless..
