POTC2 opens here... It gets five screens at my theatre, out of eleven. The five biggest (a 476-seater, a 408-seater, two 287-seaters and a 211-seater)...

Thank god I saw A SCANNER DARKLY before it left! :)

But it seems as if they're losing both prints of SUPER EX and they're not getting JOHN TUCKER. Something has to be wrong with these.

Disney has succeeded a very surprising thing: PotC2 now has a hold over all screens in every theater in Quebec. This hasn't happened with a film since Gigli in 2003.

The amount of movies out is kind of limiting Miami Vice, a 35 mil+ blockbuster needs more than 1 screen a theatre.

A lot of the Century Theatres around here in the SF Bay Area are reducing Pirates down to one screen. There are a few 1.5 and 2 screens around, but that's it.

Miami Vice is getting lots of 3 screen locations.

And crap like John Tucker and Monster House and Lady are getting/keeping 2 screens?

At my theater.

Miami Vice - 3 screens (14 showtimes)
Ant Bully - 3 screens (17 showtimes)
John Tucker Must Die - 3 screen (14 showtimes), 2 all day, plus one at night.
Scoop - 1 screen (6 showtimes).

Also, Pirates is reduced to 3 screens.

Expected for MV and AB, but a little surprised at JTMD. Then again, it is a type of movie that excels at this theater.

Any news on what your theatre is dropping?

Pretty horrible for Pirates. It even shares a screen w/ Cars? Any particular reason why it's not being treated like a film that is destined to make around $20 million this weekend?

Last week our place dropped 2 of our 5 prints and split the 3rd with Cars as well... nowadays with so many new movies week after week the studios basically demand thier movie be in the big houses and the theatre companys have to obey if they want the new product...

My theater has 23 pre-sales for Miami Vice tomorrow night. That's about 5 more than Collateral had. It doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty solid. Our veteran theater manager expects little from Ant Bully, which is really not news at this point.

Oh, forgot to post this but Ant Bully seems to only be getting one IMAX 3-D showing (in the morning) here in NYC... Superman Returns still has 3.
