Not really surprising. I expect Superman to lose over 600 theatres this weekend, maybe even more.

Saw Pirates again at 12:00. Around 3/4 full, which is like amazing for the first show of the day. Held up well on the second viewing. Saw Little Man at 2:50 in a 300-seater. Around a quarter full. One of the worst films of the year.

Yeah, the openers got what I expected, screen-count wise. Pretty boring. The interesting part I think will be the screen allocations.

Don't expect Superman to lose any IMAX screens, as it's still selling out here in NYC...tried to go see it last night and couldn't get in. This means that even losing theatres, it might keep the per-theatre average up.

As far as I know the plan is for IMAX screens to hold it until September. While at least 30 screens will go to a split schedule
of 4-5 matinee shows of ANTBULLY IMAX 3D and two evening shows of SUPERMAN RETURNS starting the 28th that still leaves
about 20-30 locations that will hold it clean.

Would it be possible to post the movies and their screen capacity, like Scott V. normally does? I would like to compile a list for future reference in comparing how blockbusters like POTC 2 are impacted by multiple openers. For instance it is great people list Pirates is playing on 4 screens, but how big are those screens and how does it compare to last week.

Only about 3 people here would actually be able to do that...I'm not included in those 3 people.

There seems to be 1 midnight for each Lady In The Water, MSEG and Clerks II w/in 40 miles of me and those are at Scott's theater.

I don't think we'll get any kind of indication of ANYTHING with midnights...as there are basically none.

I respectfully disagree regarding whether they will indicate anything :)

We also have some pre-sale numbers coming from notfabio tonight hopefully.

guys, no screen allocations, nor midnight shows (I was too sick to be at my theater). Sorry.

I will be better by tomorrow, and I will be working night shift too, so stay tuned for great crowd reports.

Well, you'll just have to get better! (For your own sake! Not at all because I want crowd reports... ;) )

No, but really, get better. Being sick sucks.

Someone will need to repost it for me since I'm only on my wireless.

But its on HSX now in response to Kenspy under MVICE.

Ladyw, Supex are in serious trouble if my advance sales are indicators.

Monster House looks safe for 30+
