Nice to see STEP UP stayed over $10M.
Not really sure if SNAKES will be Number 1? as the thursday numbers don't count towards it's 3 day?
We'll see how BOM does it.

BOM is being an asshole.
I mean common all movies who had midnight showings a day before the movie's release date were added to its weekend gross like POTC 2, X3 and sevral other movies.
BUT why not for SOAP?? BOM has a personal agenda against SOAP.

How BOM does it matters crap. Thursday should be counted towards opening day, just like it was in the case of M:I-3, Nacho Libre and many others. What they do is moronic.

A fair bit? It jumped 5,000 pta! That was a massive underestimation there. Anyone know how Half Nelson's actuals held up against the estimates? Sad to see that Sunshine actually dropped from the weekend guesses a little for the first time. :-( I was hoping it was under-estimated. They need to slow its expansion after it took that beating.

I have no problem with separating, actually prefer that way. But, if they don't use the same thing for other movies, it makes no sense. One way or the other, just stick with it.

I'm trying to decide which weekend number I agree with, but...
midnight shows are still the day of the release, anything before that is the day before.

Agenda, they predicted over 24m for the film, it doesnt help them if they dont add Snakes Thursday numbers to Friday. They did the samething with other 10pm showings like SR, theres no agenda.
10pm on Thursday = THURSDAY
Each new day begins at midnight, not at 10pm, thats how it works.

It doesn't even matter, Snakes was still #1 even without Thursday numbers:
1. Snakes on a Plane - $13,806,311
2. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby - $13,755,387
Barely, but still #1.

 Re: Sunday numbers & weekend
Weekend numbers from SBD:
15. ILLUSIONIST, THE YARI FILM GROUP 38 923,700 24,307 923,700
Weekend numbers from BOM:
19 N The Illusionist YFG $927,956 - 51 - $18,195 $927,956 - 1
So there's the reason for the massive pta jump. Same total cume, 13 less theatres. Anyone know which one is the actual theatre count?

I'd trust BOM on that one.

Um, they can't just selectively pick films they want to count Thursday numbers for separately and some they don't do that for. It should be equal.

Superman Returns' PTA keeps rising, making it clear that IMAX is currently carrying it. It will now make around $197 million without an extra push by WB.
Talladega Nights' drop is still great and I definitely see $150 million as a lock/near-lock. $160 million is possible.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest dropped just 28%! I think it will actually make $420 million now.
The Descent still has a tiny little chance at $30 million if The Wicker Man doesn't hit it too hard, but I don't think it will reach it. $28 million sounds right.
Little Miss Sunshine should increase around 15% next weekend to about $6.5 million. The Labor Day weekend, will give it another boost. It will either stay flat that weekend or increase another 5-10%. After that small drops will start. By the end of the Labor Day weekend, it'll be at $30+ million. Yeah, I certainly see $50 million coming here.
Monster House has yet to have a weekend on which it dropped less tha 40% and that despite having decent WoM. Having heavy compettiion for two weeks in a row just hurt it too much. It will end up with about $74 million, very close to Barnyard. Not sure which of the two will win, but they will probably finish within $2 million of each other. Barnyard will certainly pass $70 million.
The Da Vinco Code just passed Alladin and is on track to outdo Ghost for #56 all-time domestic.
Lady in the Water already has a better multiplier than The Village, heh.
Cars should pass $240 million next weekend. Not bad for it considering the disappointing frist two weekends. Almost reaching the heights of Toy Story 2.

I still think that the $200m mark is achievable. According to the IMAX website ( http://www.imax.com/ImaxWeb/welcome.do )
the next big Imax release will be OPEN SEASON on September 29th - that's still 5 1/2 weeks of playtime for SUPERMAN RETURNS...

It won't keep sell out showings all that time, though. It might make it there, but certainly not within these 5 1/2 weeks.
