3 flops in a row for SONY. After the amount of people I saw in my cinema on Thursday, i knew for a fact that BI2 was going to go downhill for a 3-5 open. I did a report on HSX, and this dickhead named 'UTAH' bagged me for saying that. Well UTAH if you ever read this, go and fuck yourself.

Don't be too sad for her. They obviously had the idea it would do poorly in the US since
they dumped it in so few screens. It could, and probably will, still do well internationally.

16.5 Million for Inside Man is a really strong hold considering there's a movie opening north of 70 this weekend. Too bad IA2 wasn't coming out next week, because without the heavy competition, I would guess IM would have been closer to 20.
Ahnyone know how Thank You for Smoking did yesterday?

Terrific for Ice Age.
Basic Instinct 2 could be one of the first sequels to gross less total than the original did opening weekend, even unadjusted.

I wonder if showbiz is right about the Ice Age 2 number. When movies open that big,
they are sometimes off on the extimates by 1-2M. That can make a big difference in
how much it makes for the weekend.

WOW. That's a brilliant opening day for Ice Age 2... I mean, shoot, I really loved the first movie and can't wait to see IA2, but I never expected it to do THIS good!

I don't know it this counts, but Home Alone III grossed less total than the second one did in its OW.

HOLY F-ING SHIT! ICE AGE 2 is a friggin' MONSTER! It will do 71-80 Million this weekend.
Poor SLITHER and BASIC INSTINCT 2 . They should release BASIC INSTINCT 2 at the beginning of July in a cool unrated edition (obviously they will do the unrated edition, especially with its disappointing Box Offfice) and it will be a big rental hit. I could see 40-50 Million in rentals easy. I'm glad it's already a big hit overseas. SLITHER on the other hand will have a harder time in rentals because it's from Universal. It's really unfortunate it didn't do better, but hopefully it can have a nice Saturday increase since it didn't do so hot on Friday. It has great reviews and that could help it.
Barf at ATL. It's not surprising though.

XXX: State of the Union made less total than the original made opening weekend.
I don't think it's that uncommon.

XXX Ickola and Home Alone 3 were relatively unrelated to the previous films in the series. I know Samuel L. Jackson came back for the second thing, but still.
I'm referring to sequels that have a direct link with the first/previous one.
