The previews for Göhte must have been huge, though. Do you have any preliminary previews numbers? I'd guess no less than 60,000...

Surprisingly low.

With that opening weekend and what I assume to be very good WoM and the fact that German films usually have better legsn than the US ones - Fack Ju Göhte looks good for 4+ million admissions. Might even pass Django with some luck and finish 2nd for the whole year. I don't think Catching Fire or Frozen can top it (The Hobbit will, though).

My curent prediction/projection for the yearly Top 5:

1. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - 6 million admissions
2. Django Unchained - 4.5 million
3. Fack Ju Göhte - 4.2 million
4. Despicable Me 2 - 3.6 million
5. Catching Fire - 3.3 million

Django's success is still stunning, given Tarantino's track record, its rating and its genre.

It's getting better and better. Latest estimates have GÖHTE at 915,000 admissions (i.p.)...

I think FROZEN will do 4m admissions - there's no competition this year. DER MEDICUS should do 3m admissions and the wild card is Bully's BUDDY...

No, it's Fuck you, Goethe, but it is actually supposed to be very bad English, not German.

Ok. Doesn't sound or even look like bad English at all. Looks like bad German.

I dont see Medicus performing better than Die Päpstin. Seems the same kind of German hit. 2.5 million admissions tops.

Frozen....maybe. But Germans haven't recently been responding all that well to animated films outside of beloved franchises. I mean Toy Story 3, Monsters University, Wreck-It Ralph, Brave and Rio all failiong to even hit 2 milion admissions is kinda telling. Not a single animated film that wasn't part of a franchise could hit 3 million admissions between 2011-2013.

Of course there was Tangled back in 2010....but recently, the animated films just weren't doing all that well here. I'm thinking 3 million admissions for Frozen. However, with the newest estimate for Göhte, I'm uppping my projection to 4.5 million.

Final numbers:

924,592 GÖHTE
285,132 THOR (-50 %)

Top 20 tomorrow...

Dear lord, that's amazing for Göhte.

How much do you see for Catching Fire's opening? I guess around 600,000/700,000 adm.

Looks like FACK JU GÖHTE will see no drop in its 2nd weekend... DJANGO's no. 1 position is in danger...

In danger? I'd dare to say that it is a lock to pass Django now. Even after the first weekend I predicted it to pass Django, now it will pass it by more than 1 million admissions. I think The Hobbit's yearly #1 position is in danger now. Göhte could crack 6.5 million admissions, I don't see The Hobbit doing that.

Anyway, it went down with Trend No. II
