It's a good T.V. spot, but you completely overhyped it, excel. It's the same footage, just in a faster pace.

I wouldnt got that far to call him nowhere is Excel in Supe128 league, I lurk through that forum and the guy insults anyone who disagrees with him and threatens to report them for not using lurks and trolling. Not only that the guy doesnt provide links for most his arguments and adds alot of annoying lol icons to his argument. I can see why most of the BOM moved over here because Sean seems to ban more of the credible users but keeps trolls like Supe around

excel's not a troll. His prediction gets more realistic each day.
But he just overhyped that commercial. I was hoping for some new footage.

Each of the LOTR movies cost less than 130 to make yet it produced better CGI than Van Helsing that was budgetted at 180 million. You also neglect to mention that a huge chunk of the budget for Superman Returns went into CGIing previous footage from Superman 2 using Brando's image. And that's another thing that's gonna make this movie suck is having to rely on Donner's films and footage to put this over along with using John Williams theme music instead of re-imagining his own..
Donner's footage? You mean the stuff we haven't seen with Brando? How long do you think we'll see Brando for in this film, seeing as he's dead and all? If he was in the first movie for only twenty minutes, he'll be in this for a max. of five.
And come on. Would you want a Superman film minus Williams' theme? That's like having a Bond film without Monty Norman's theme.

Speaking of that, did they do any Superman sketches on SNL? I missed the first half of the show.... If they didn't, I'm guessing they'll do one closer to the premiere date. I bet Samberg'd be the one to play Superman should they do a sketch; I was noticing tonight how he could be made to resemble Routh's Superman.

Whoops. Wasn't even thinkin' 'bout that. They really should have done one; I can so see Andy Samberg playing Routh's Superman. But yeah, I did hear Kevin's quick "see Superman!" at the very end; he probably mentioned it in his intro, maybe?
Kevin Spacey was awesome last night. His Neil Young sketch was *perfection*.

very, very good.
and, surprise surprise, theres ANOTHER full legnth theatrical trailer coming this week to be with xmen 3, though it is rumored to be a lot like this one.
that one above is the international one airing with da vinci code around the world, and in light of da vincis overseas 3 day take of 147 million, the hype should also be happening overseas as well, not just the states.
im not predicting this for a while...but i think the number will mimic one of 2 movies.
if its a solid blockbuser, the numbers will be damn near identical to matrix reloaded.
if its a great one-spiderman/batman begins greta-then numbers will be around harry potter 1.
on a minor note, the special effects look superb except for the shot of the orange stuff coming from the sewers, that looked wierd.

while 3's my fav., id this tv spot would be the most public effective yet.

I haven't like:
- the promotional pictures
- the cast
- the fact that this had such a huge budget
- the opening so close to POTC 2 and potentially hurting both films,
- The tv commercials
- The teaser and previously released trailers
- The costume
- WB's promotion
- The huge product tie ins (getting to be excess)
BUT, I watched the international trailer today, and it is the first thing that I HAVE liked about this film, that is leaning me towards actually catching it in theaters now (not opening weekend though, don't want to deal with those crowds).
Bravo WB. You finally did SOMETHING right...

Did anyone watch the season finaly of the simpsons and family guy last night? there were a shitload of x3 tv spots, 1 every time it went to commercials(not suprising considering the company, but i was very suprised SR had almost as many tv spots as x3.

I saw about one or two commericals for SR but then again I only watched the Simpsons for 1hr and lunge after the remote after its season finale so I dont have to watch that god awful show that thinks its funny but its not that comes after it

I think the new trailer is pretty great. It doesn't make me change my prediction, even if I am more excited about it, but it makes me more confident in my $215 million prediction than before.
And last night's spot during Family Guy was pretty good, too.

-superman is the number 2 most viewed trailer on comingsoon.net for the past week behind x3. pirates is 3rd
-superman is the 3rd most searched movie of may on yahoo behind da vinci and x3. pirates is not on the list.
-in overall yahoo searches, superman is 7 and superman returns is 11th. pirates is not on the list.

In other sites like imdb
http://www.imdb.com/Sections/Trailers/
1.Da Vinci Code, The (2006)
2.X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
3.Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)
4.Superman Returns (2006)
5.Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The (2006)
6.Poseidon (2006)
In ooverall yahoo buzz
http://buzz.yahoo.com/movies/
Spiderman 3 and Batman Begins 3 is ahead of Superman Returns on the chart thus proving once and for all that yahoo searches mainly lean alot towards comic books in large margins

Which only shows that the supposed interest in this movie stems from the internet more than the casual moviegoer and the casual moviegoer isn't going to be ready to accept any other actor but Christopher Reeve in this role and THAT'S what gonna kill this movie..
