Wow, Hills is incredibly backloaded with no front page.

That's pathetic for Shaggy Dog; I don't think it will hit 4m. I think FTL and THHE will both be near 6m.

It's now been 3 weeks in a row without the movies on the frontpage. Should lower the ratios a bit again.
My projections:
Shaggy Dog - I guess I'll still give it a ratio of 80, although the grade would suggest something worse. 3.85m would be really low for this as it is.
Failure to Launch - I'll guess 5.9m. Movies like this, such as Hitch, can have low ratios, I gave it 77.
The Hills Have Eyes - The review total for this one was most affected by the lack of the frontpage at night. The backloaded trend should lower the ratio as it means more reviews will be posted tommorow from people to see it tonight. I'll give it a ratio just over 100 for 6.3m.
The Libertine - I find this one a bit tough to predict. The theater count and low level of buzz would make me expect a high ratio, but the fact that you already had 757 reviews could take away that effect. I guess I'll go with a ratio of about 155 for 1m. That could be off though; 0.7m or 1.3m wouldn't surprise me.

I was expecting these ratios
Shaggy Dog 110
Failure To Launch 120
Hills Have Eyes 130
Libertine 200
I'll knock 20 off each since yahoo was so slow yesterday. Here are my Friday projections...
Shaggy Dog - 3.4M
Failure To Launch - 4.6M
Hills Have Eyes - 6M
Libertine - 0.85M

Wayyyyyy too low. Bank on at least $5-6M, I'd go with closer to $7-8M, personally.

I'm hoping for over $6,000,000 for Hills Have Eyes on Friday.
Hopefully the other 2 openers will top $15M this weekend. Not because i think they look good, but just to help 2006 box office and SJP.

Based on crowd reports, I'd agree. Since 5M would be fairly close to my projection, I won't disagree there. But 6-8M? It's ratio would have to be between 57-75. I don't see how that's possible for a romantic comedy.
It happened once that I could find, with Hitch. Most of the time the ratio is between 100-130 for this type of film. The very best I could see it doing is an 80 ratio due to the slowness of yahoo, which would give it 5.7M.

I just have a gut instinct that Yahoo is quite off on Shaggy Dog and Failure. With 3500 theaters, and the crowd reaction, I think it's number will be higher.

FTL's ratio was an ultra-low 53.

Which is even more amazing considering the grade. How did THAT happen?

A bit shocking. I would not have been surprised by a ratio in the 60s, but under 55 is quite extraordinary. I think romantic comedies that appeal more to guys have lower ratios. That was the case with Hitch, but Just Like Heaven had a higher ratio while attracting a pathetic percentage of males. Men are unlikely to grade a rom-com in the first place, so it would make sense for the ratio to be lowered when they see it. Plus, if guys are willing to see it more women will see it as well, but if they wouldn't go without their boyfriend/husband, they are probably less likely to grade it then the core audience for the genre (that primarily saw JLH). So, I think it can have a dramatic effect on the ratio (and the BO). I'm sure JLH appealed more to women then FTL and could have opened near 30m if only it appealed to men. It works the other way too; I'm sure Doom could have easily opened with 25m if it appealed to women whatsoever.

Holy shit, it already has 38 WRITTEN reviews. Ratio has got to be what? 180-200?
Edit - Oh it's on the front page

I'm thinking V will have about 250. She's the Man might see 180-200 since it doesn't have a picture. Find Me Guilty will likely be over 400, maybe even 500.

This is way off-topic, but is Lucky Number Slevin that good? It's like, my 2nd most anticipated film of 2006, but its reviews were only decent and Empire called it even a bigger mess that Revolver?

I haven't seen Revolver, so i can't comment on that, but i just loved Slevin. Its extremely well written and slick, yes you can see the twist coming a long way off but it didn't matter. I don't normally like this sort of film and i was surprised that is was so funny. It's just one massively entertaining film with some really strong performances and surprisingly Josh Hartnett was very good, his best role by far.

GREAT . I didn't expect it to be funny, so that's even better. And I'm very glad Hartnett pulled it off. I had many doubts about him, but franky, he's been doing good since Wicker Park.
Thanks

Still no change. Yahoo is becoming more and more clogged in the mornings as the weeks go by. Got to wonder if they soon won't follow IMDb's path and do away with the hourly updates and do it in batch at larger intervals.

She's the Man - 15, +15, B+
Find Me Guilty - 3, +3, B+
Just adding FMG. It also has a link on the frontpage.
BTW, V has 120 written reviews, so it must have at least 600 total so far. Massive start. Hopefully they catch up soon.
