Sadly, I won't contribute to it' weekend gross (it's too hot here, 32C throughout weekend, urgh!), but I will watch it on Monday.
I gather this is a film of high entertainment value. That's all I want. I'm sick of these serious blockbusters already, bleh. Some fresh air would be nice for a change.

It's most likely NOT tracking for $60 million, but $50 million is a great shot right now. Yahoo!, crowd reports, and pretty much every tool for tracking is leaning towards a $45-50 million weekend.
I guess Jolie is still box office poison, though. Right, roidrage (and everyone else who said it...)?

Maybe she prevented it from making an $80+ million weekend?

Actors are much less of a draw than is supposed. I want a fun film. This looks like a fun film. I couldnt care less about the stars if the film didnt look exciting enough. I have a huge crush on Angelina, but I've not seen most of her films because, to be honest, most look horrible. This one doesn't.

Angelina Jolie is pretty freaking amazing in this, I think. She turned *me* on slightly and I'm straight.

If this film comes close to $50m, but doesn't quite reach $50m, I will change this to "The $5x10^7M Club", with no decimal places, to save face

I used to be a nonbeliever until I saw the movie today. I think it's going to have some very nice legs.

Hey, you may be right, but based on Scott V's report (which is usually a great indication for films targeted at teens), plus Yahoo! reviews, it shouldn't make less than $15 million on Friday.
We'll see, though.

$50m is definately achievable, it might go as far as Bourne Supremacy's $52.2m last year......
In Australia Mr and Mrs. Smith has been doing huge business, all the showings on Saturday from 7pm onwards were SOLD OUT or close to sold out...
It's definately the 2nd most potent performer this year behind only Star Wars, and i've got a feeling it might break the AUD$5m mark here in Australia.
I guess all those wonderful TV Spots and tabloid rumours did the trick nicely..... ,
"Come to daddy...."
"Who's your daddy now"

How is it tracking for a 50 mill opening Zing?

Looks like the Smiths could be Angelina's highest grossing movie (Shark Tale doesn't count since she had such a small part in it)

I can't wait for the Friday numbers!
This could so totally break out and become a smash hit. Why? Cause people are fed up with the serious films. WE WANT FUN!

If you check out the Yahoo! reviews thread, it made a HUGE amount and showed no sign of frontloadedness. They're projecting $16-21 million for Friday, and if it's near the higher end, that's definitely $50 million.
Also, based on crowd reports, it's been doing huge business. All signs point to a minimum of $40 million, and Scott V projects a minimum of a $16 million opening day based on his business. His theater is always good for projecting teen movies because it's a teen dominated theater.

El_Masked_esteROIDe_user wrote: Yeah people, isnt this like the 3rd Brad Pitt movie in a row thats being overpredicted in terms of opening numbers. Lets not start those crazy 60 million opening fro Troy just because Brad Pitt was in it or Ocean's 12 opening up to 50 million just because its a sequel to a hit. I dont even need to use list Queen poison herself since shes on a good carange streak except for Shark Tales
I say a 35 million opening maybe lower
As andaroo stated, Jolie isn't box office poison. She has just made a bunch of movies no one wanted to see.

Jolie is the best thing about almost every film she's ever starred in. Smith is no different, she was great.

I'm sorry to bring this up again, but it has to be said:
I am very glad that The Honeymooners bombed. It looks like it is going to end up with about 6-7 mill for the weekend. A very deserved failure.
