Re: Epic Crood Despicable Turbo Monsters (INTL)
I'm glad The Croods continues to do very well. Maybe it has a shot at $350 million OS.

Re: Epic Crood Despicable Turbo Monsters (INTL)
The gross this weekend is quite good. $500m WW is a lock now with $180m domestic and $320m OS for sure. It should get close to $350m OS if it continues to hold well in face of IM3 next weekend.

Re: Epic Crood Despicable Turbo Monsters (INTL)
That's a great hold in face of IM3. It should get past $320m with ease now and $180m domestic is a given so $500m WW is happening. It should get close to $350m OS I believe.

Re: Epic Crood Despicable Turbo Monsters (INTL)
Well that's weird how Al Pacino left the production of Despicable Me 2 after he'd completed all of his lines. The villain is going to sound totally different now as Benjamin Bratt has stepped in (with only two months before its cinema release) to record the villains lines. It's going to be shit.
Al Pacino had creative differences with the producers. LMFAO. Creative differences on a kids movie.

Re: Epic Crood Despicable Turbo Monsters (INTL)
Sounds stupid, there's only 2 months left and Illumination let us know about this "insignificant situation" now Either the plot of the film is bad or Al wanted more $$$$$$$$

Of course he wanted more money. How is it possible to have "creative differences" on a kids movie? Mus be about money.

Epic looks so generic. I can't see it making more than $65m.

Epic is the first animated film since The Croods and it opens over the Memorial Day weekend. It could be BAD BAD BAD and still not make less than $90 million.

Re: Epic Crood Despicable Turbo Monsters (INTL)
The Croods is over $550 million now. It just might reach $600 million, quite impressive. The last original animated film to gross $600 million was Up I think?

With Epic already rolling into the OS markets this weekend I highly doubt Croods will end up with $600m WW total still its a great number and a surefire hit for Fox and Dreamworks.

Re: Epic Crood Despicable Turbo Monsters (INTL)
Quote: Epic launched in 16 markets this weekend, the majority in Latin America, and came away with a very strong $14.5 million opening weekend in its overseas release. Animated films perform exceptionally well in Latin America and Epic was no exception, taking the top spot in 7 of the region's 12 markets. Epic was the #2 film in every other market it opened. Mexico has been building a reputation for one of the most important overseas markets for animated films. Mexican audiences responded to Epic with a $3.4 million weekend. Brazil followed with $2.3 million and Germany was the only other market where the film broke the million-dollar mark, notching a $2.3 million gross. While they sound promising those numbers are good but not as good as Croods IMO.

Ugh, I hate Mexico's weird fixation with Animated flicks.

Re: Epic Crood Despicable Turbo Monsters (INTL)
Dreamworks really needed The Croods to be a success, because Rise was a bomb and Turbo will probably underperform. I think they lucked out with the release schedule more than anything else with Croods...0 competition propelled it's multiplier.

Wellm, that helped, but also the fact that The Croods really is A LOT of fun. I barely know anyone who did not enjoy the film. The sequel will at least increase overseas.

Re: Epic Crood Despicable Turbo Monsters (INTL)
Wasn't this the weekend where Epic was released in many OS markets?
That Croods number is really impressive it might get to $400m OS which is very impressive. The sequel might get to $500m and if it explodes like Ice Age then it can even get to $600m OS.
