I am seriously wondering if it can open to $150 million.

Probably not, but $125 million will happen.

Didn't Avengers show that with the right ensemble it can do more than sum of parts. This defenitely can sell more tickets than X3. I am in as well. This is the biggest of next summer flicks for sure.

This is the most interesting idea for a reboot/sequel idea there has ever been. Even more so than the Avengers. Unless Godzilla really overperforms, Days Of Future Past really has the summer to itself until Transformers comes out in late June.

Last Stand's 4 day adjusts to 150 million. I see it easily passing AWE's 139 4 day.

I'm thinking 160 4 day/ 335 close- 800 WW. This will be the X-men film that brings it all home. I'm still not convinced it'll hit 500 OS, but Wolverine hitting 275 million is a great sign that 400 will at least happen.

It worked for Fast Five/FF6, and Avengers, don't see how it won't on this.

Yeah this is going to open to $150M over the 4 day easy. Probably closer to $175M. It could even be the #1 movie of next summer if Dragon underperforms.

I don't understand how this doesn't impress you.

Using two generations of casts to continue the continuity has never ever been attempted before. The logistics are usually a nightmare. It's not the same like an actor returning to a role, or cameos, or really big reboots to smaller films. This and the the OT cast being in the new trilogy (Though not confirmed yet) You'll never see a film attempting so ambitious ever in your lifetime. Enjoy it.

That's like the fabled Connery or Brosnan being cast as the villain in a future Bond film. It's the true reason people that are fans of cartoons, comic books, films go to the movies. Had Bryan Singer never attempted to make Superman and put the X-men franchise on a different tangent, this would have probably never happened.

Post Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past 100% over First Class Total C
Two generations?

The Last Stand was made in 2006. First Class was made in 2011. That's a five year gap. Not to mention The Wolverine coming out in 2013. That's not enough to qualify as a generation. They're in the same generation.

If the original X-Men series was made in the 70s (or 8os or even 90s) and they hadn't been in anything for 30 years (or 20 or 10) until appearing in this new series, then I'd be impressed, but it's not impressive at all. Almost no years have passed. X-Men is still fresh in the memory. Mixing these two casts is one of the safest bets in Hollywood history.

It's adorable that you think so. I always assume the high post count means you know more than you lead on. My apologies. Either way you didn't argue a single point I was making, so moving on.

So DOFP would have to make 293M for this club to win? That's seems unlikely, but it's not impossible. The first trailer is awesome. It's almost got an Avengers feel to it combining the casts. X-Men Last Stand had a 1.9 multiplier from it's 4-day Memorial Day weekend opening to it's domestic total. Let's say DOFP worst case scenario is a 2.0 multiplier. In that case DOFP would have to make 147M over the 4 days to make this club a winner. X-Men Last Stand made 123M over the 4 days. There is the negative factor of recent smaller X-Men openings, but if the marketing continues to shine, I think this is doable.

IN.

X2 and X-MEN: THE LAST STAND adjust to $297m and $298m respectively.

If it opens huge like $120m-$130m over 4-day than this could happen. Last year Wolverine opened big and the reception was good and I believe this one could open twice that one.
