In. Also been thinking 180-190 for the OW since the first film released. Somewhere around 23 million tickets with a record IMAX opening.

Re: The Hunger Games - Catching Fire 450m+ Club
IMAX double feature starting at 5 PM Thursday is already sold out at my theater.
This is a case where the early previews should really be seperated out. The amount of upfront demand for this is insane and the fact is that these early previews give it a clear advantage over other mega-blockbusters that started at midnight.
The film is likely to break the single day/OD/Friday record (HP72 91m) if we include previews into it. But I think it'll be hard to know whether it would have done those numbers with a midnight release. There's just so much capacity.
I hate 8PM showings. They're stupid. 10PM showings I don't mind, because sometimes Midnight showings can just be too much if the movie it 2+ hours long.

stfu.
If they don't count the previews for this they shouldn't count the previews for any movie.
Also I'm banking on this breaking the OD record and getting to $100mil.

Remember this will be a far far far more front loaded opening compared to THG.
THG had a big opening day but it was its Saturday gross that was most impressive being the 2nd film ever after Spider Man 3 to have a 50 million Saturday or 2nd day.
Meaning if it opens to around DH2 opening day number that in no way gets it near 200 million.
Looking at it for example at TDKR Midnight, no matter what way you extrapolated was the film hitting 200 million and unlike CF TDKR would have had a strong Sunday hold.
Meaning from a fan boy wild predictions 200 million seems easy.
However looking at the facts and the past it is just another path to disappointment.

I tend to agree with Magnus regarding the 8pm showings of this. I can let it slide when, say, Machete Kills' 8pm earnings are just blended into the Friday number, but having 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 10:30pm, 11pm, etc. showings of Catching Fire and then simply counting them as part of Friday completely obliterates the equation.

You can't pick and choose. You either want it one way, or the other.
I really want it seperated it out for all of them. But I think it espically matters for a film like HG cause it actually has a chance to break records.
