So you predicted 7day total of 250 milion yuan and after 6 days it's already at 230 milion yuan with Sunday numbers still not counted Wow it looks like it could make around 800 milion yuan there ( how much would that be in $ )

So, it basically looks like China and France will be fighting it out to be the biggest international market for Avatar. France is almost at $100m, right? So it'd be heading toward something like $150m. Could China actually get there?

A spokesman of China Film Group, the domestic company that handles the release of Avatar, said the first week gross is 282.79m yuan, or $41.4m.

It's not uncommon for one film to drop big on a given week, but it's unprecedented to see all dropping that much. Theaters were giving Avatar 70-80% of the screens when it first opened, but after a day or two, the unforeseen demand pushed it to 90+%.
