Re: Weekend Actuals (TDK - a lot!)
Using Iron Man's multiplier only up to this point in its run, and TDK passes 500 million with ease...I mean...it seems like an even better loved film, but maybe that's just me...And it's not like Iron Man had a small weekend.

Using DMC's drops for the first 8 weeks of the run... After 8 weeks we are at $495,557,307. DMC, another summer opening is a good comparison, but remember, TDK has much much better WOM>

Some interesting facts: As of 3 days, The Dark Knight is:
*$4,636,658 ahead of Dead Man Chest's 4-day total. *$5,369,249 ahead of At World's End's 4 1/2-day total. *$5,999,732 ahead of Spider-Man 2's 5-day total. *$6,788,979 ahead of Spider-Man 1's 7-day total. *$1,075,797 ahead of Batman Begins' 21-day total.
And, just for shits and giggles:
*$943,512 ahead of Titanic's 17-day total.

Ah shit! Apparently, TDK's Friday-Sunday drop (35.1%) is actually less DMC's (36.7%). So much for being insanely frontloaded.

While this is obviously frontloaded, POTC2 was as well. TDK has much better WOM than POTC2...however....POTC2 was in a better position (less competition+more July days). So I still doubt it matches POTC2 multiplier. But it has a good shot at a 2.92+ multiplier, which is all it needs to pass Star Wars for no. 2 all time. YOU ARE NUTS

Re: Weekend Actuals (TDK - a lot!)
Remove the films with holiday affect and the teen comedies than it will be a very interesting list.

Nothing will probably touch TDK's drop if that's the case. Regardless, seeing it that high to begin with is just plain ridonkulous.

Re: Weekend Actuals (TDK - a lot!)
TPM and RotS had the Canadian holiday on Monday. That may have helped a bit.

Re: Weekend Actuals (TDK - a lot!)
Not to take away ANYTHING from this AWESOME weekend TDK had, but do you think TDK was aided by having a larger percentage of adults seeing the movie rather than a more kid-friendly movie? I think that's partially why HP hasn't reached the heights of bigger franchises (due to the high percentage of child-priced tickets going to these movies). Maybe that's the Batman franchise's secret. The maximum adult priced-ticket sales are helping this movie push past more family-friendly fare such as Shrek and Spidey, maybe? Also, though it is doing spectacular during the day, this type of dark movie is more sucessful at night, where ticket prices are also at a premium. Just a thought

Looking at that list of top drops for Sunday's, I'm not sold that TDK's great Sunday drop bodes well for legs...I mean there's a few movies there with very sub-par to average legs that had very good Sunday drops.
