I do not under any circumstances think this will pass 300 Million and when it doesn't, it'll be a hell of a shock to those who've hyped the holy hell out of it as though it will and the 2nd question is again, NO.. That title belongs to either IRONMAN or INDY IV since both are pretty close.. I think TDK will do gangbusters in it's opening weekend which is a given, but Mamma Mia will take some of this audience to for those not interested in the 6th BATMAN movie..

What is the biggest jump for a sequel? Austin Powers 2 comes to mind not sure if that is it though.

It just seems insane to think that a sequel will gross 300m+ so easily when its predcessor only made 205m. And it is insane I think but....this hype is just so big. Reviews so far are the best I've seen for a live-action film since LOTR. It's not really about the rating they are giving it but they way they are describing it. A reviewer may have given Iron Man an 'A' and TDK an 'A', but the difference is that most reviewers were praising Iron Man as a fun, blockbuster while reviewers have been praising TDK as a masterpiece. Two very different things.
Honestly, unless you either hated Batman Begins, I don't see why you would NOT want to see this. Even people who thought BB was 'meh' are going to end up seeing this. They may not be going crazy over it like us fanboys, but they are still going to end up paying to see it in theaters. That top portion of your post is what I've been saying for the longest time and people who aren't fans will see it cause of a dead actor and it's true folks and you know it.. There's simply more of a morbid curiosity over Ledgers final role than the actual movie itself it seems.. This is why not 1 critic out there will actually give this guy a fair critique: They don't want to get buttslammed by the fanboys over it.. Pray that not 1 critic out there gives this movie the RT SPLAT!! Otherwise, there screwed..fine, TDK's gross will entirely be attributed to Heath Ledger's death, That doesn't change the fact that it'll pwn the shit outta Hulk

Re: The Dark Knight pre-sales and sellout watch
Regel Union Square (not iMax) has sold out all 4 midnight shows and added 2 shows at 1230. I guess they have only 4 prints and they will be running additional shows on interlock. Maybe they will add 2 more at 1230.
I am sure majority of theaters(4000+) will be doing midnight shows. It hopefully has a chance at beating Sith. That would something, midnights beating BB's OD(that should make a good thread).

Around 80% or more of it's theatres will have to show midnights for that to happen, meaning around 3300-3500 or so. Which would be hundreds more theatres than Sith had (Just over 3000 (about 83%) of Sith's 3600 count had midnights). If Pirates 2/3, Spider-Man 3, and Harry Potter 5 can barely get over the 2000 mark (about 50%) I doubt The Dark Knight can.
