Well even if its in AUD it'll still be a pretty big gross.

These big loud blockbusters don't normally do that well, you need that extra something to get to the $30m mark. I'm currently pegging it at $20-25m.

I'm hoping for a big opening, i'll definately be seeing it in the first week....can't wait to purchase the Box Set DVD which has all the first generation cartoons, it comes out next week just before the movie....retailing for about AUD$140 or US$110..

There's some concern that F42 and Transformers might cannabalise each other, though i think Transformers should do much better since the promotion started earlier and this movie looks stronger.

NSW and VICtoria are the bigger states, so they are released on the same weekend Transformers opens, whcih means that the multiplier for Transformers might be very strong, it's a kid movie anyway so expect a huge Saturday. Currently pegging at the AUD$6m-$7m opening range.

Harry Potter btw is opening on a Wednesday, July 11th, not too many movies open on a wednesday here, the last big one was War of the Worlds and King Kong in 2005. FOTR currently holds the 5-Day opening record, Harry Potter 5 will easily surpass it.

Yeah I know it's kinda confusing of late, with all the INTL threads for Shrek 3, Transformers and Harry Potter as well...

Hopefully once Transformers opens next week, we can start to let go of the Pirates 3 thread and focus more on the July movies....

The reviews are starting to come in quick for Transformers, and its been generally mixed to positve which is great for this type of movie. It'll drop big no doubt, but maybe, maybe there could be some salvation and legs won't be as bad as pics like Revolutions, Hulk...etc.

I know, i'm so excited and pumped up for this. I'm going with some of my friends to see in on June 28th, opening day in Australia.......hoping for a big opening day.....

For some reason, the more i think about this the more i think it can break out.....

I just found out it's being released on July 12th over here. That's great for me... bad for TF though.

Jul 12th, don't tell me its opening in the same weekend as Harry Potter, that's insnae...

Greece! HP5 opens on August 23rd over here, i.e. the third best weekend of the year. But TF will flop here.

That's pretty strange, HP is no slouch in CHina, HP4 opened to $4.1m 1.5 years ago....

Though Asia will undoubtedly be its srongest region......expect some records to be broken.....

From a European grown-up and movie-loving point of view:
Transformers was the worst film I have seen this year so far.
Complete militaristic, violent, dumb and uninspirated garbage.

They should have given the production money to the WWF or AI.

I just hope that this film will sink. And I am trying to be objective here.

It's hard to be objective when you are using lines such as "worst movie I have seen this year".

Though, I'm not doubting you at all. :-D

Tranformers is getting huge huge promotion in india. From what I am hearing it has the most expensive marketing for a hollywood movie in India.

If this movie doesn't do $2 million OW it will be considered a flop.
