I didn't say I was put off by it makeshift, but my level of excitement is subdued. I can't really count on one hand the number of videogame horror films that I have liked. The imagery looks fine, but I often tire of horror films that are talk and little action. I have this bad feeling that this film is going to be so heavy with the SPFX and the CGI that it is crash under it's own ostentatious chest pounding. I'lls ee it, like I do pretty much every horror film released, but it looks like another generic vg horror film.

That sounds pretty graphic for a "psychological horror" film. Then again, I've heard some scene descriptions that sounded extremely brutal, so it's not surprising (Slight spoilers: Think "ripped into pieces", "skin flung off of body", and other pleasantries)
Well, if there is that level of graphic violence, then that bodes well for the film. I haven't seen someone get their skin ripped off in quite soemtime.

Christophe Gans (the director) has said that the majority of the film is practical effects. Very little CGI was used (just the fog, I believe).

I think it looks horrible but I'm sure it will be a hit. I will see it in theaters sometime though.

Then that is a bonus. I much prefer the Clive Barker/Rick Baker/Sam Raimi idea of horror that uses makeup and such than CGI. I am a bit more excitd now.

2 TV Spots:

Which is your favorite? I think the Missing Persons one holds more widespread appeal but the other one is creepier.

This movie looks AWESOME (I love the "Missing Persons" TV spot. Very freaky). I'm hearing a good amount of buzz for this as well.
My very early predictions:
Opening weekend: $25.5 million
Final gross: $60.3 million

It still won't open above $25 million, methinks. It also won't finish with more than around $70 million.

It looks fine, but thus far, it's not something where I'm counting down the days until I can see it.

The ads have been every effective, especially with the monotone voice-over ("These people are missing") reporting creepy "factual" events about the film that worked so well for The Exorcism of Emily Rose and others.
I think a performance similiar to The Amityville Horror is in order.

This must be one of the best marketed horror movies ever. Tracking greatly underestimated Saw II and Exorcism. Everyone's underpredicting it. 32m/86m

I'm about to download the making-of-special now.
Does it contain, like, major spoilers?

Nah, you get to see some creatures you might've not seen before but thats about it. Theres one part where Pyramid Head gets a hold of someone, but im not sure if it's a major character or not. No plot spoilers or anything.
