Re: Harry Potter 5: OOTP (INTL.)
Transformers deserves the #4 spot worldwide moreso than Shrek 3.... simply yuck. Though surprising that till this day, only Nemo has managed to do more than $500m overseas... ,

Re: Harry Potter 5: OOTP (INTL.)
Hollywood ReporterQuote: "Order of the Phoenix," in its eighth weekend of overseas release, hit an eye-opening cume of $627.8 million and became the second-highest grossing film of the Harry Potter franchise, beating the $617 million registered by "The Chamber of Secrets." "Phoenix's" weekend performance also brought it to new heights as the sixth-highest grossing film ever in the overseas market.
To date, "Phoenix" has collected $98.2 million from the U.K., $61 million from Germany, $49.9 million from France, and $30.1 million from Australia. so, it's going to pass 100m in UK, huh? great and Ratatouille is still no.1 in France with 4.4m for 50.7m total

What was the last film to break 100M in the UK? And if the ROTK did it, what else?

Archangel, can you explain to me the difference between some numbers listed and their "actuals"? Does it have something to do with how running totals listed in Variety are sometimes off or don't add up?

Well Variety's running totals are not to be trusted as they adjust them each week...sometimes you'll even see running totals drop latter in the run. This is to do with the changing exchange rates. I do my own calculations, basically summing each weekly figure and ignore the total being reported by Variety.

Excellent.
The overseas grosses are really exploding last year and this year..incredible!
I predict $670+ million OS for Half-Blood Prince.

Re: Harry Potter 5: OOTP (INTL.)
Warner Bros. ninth weekend of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" padded its foreign total with $3.6 million at 4,300 in 58 markets to lift its overseas cume to $635 million, the sixth highest of all time. The fifth Potter pic will probably surpass No. 5 on that list -- "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," at $642 million -- by the end of its run.
Looks like a $645-$650m final take for Potter 5, not enough to pass AWE but i'm surprised that it got this much after what was a good but not great movie...

Re: Harry Potter 5: OOTP (INTL.)
For me, OOTP is the best of series..
(I was saying; it was a close second best, but I changed my mind after my third viewing)
But yes, I'm surprised; while it was great, IMO, it was also the least 'crowd pleasure' of all HP flicks (especially, coming after the action-packed; GoF)..
I'd say; its success in US; thanks to the Wednesday opening (and maybe) + GoF.. and its success in overseas; thanks to GoF..
