Re: Harry Potter 5: OOTP (INTL.)
it added 13 million the past week.
13-40%=7.8 7.8-40%=4.6 4.6-40%=2.8 2.8-40%=1.7
Thats about 18-20 left in the tank minimum...
I would say its a virtual lock for 650 overseas, at this point.

Looks like it still has a slight chance to pass At World's End internationally! : )

Will easily pass Shrek 2, The Phantom Menace, and The Two Towers soon. Going to be close between this and At World's End. But I think the roughly 15M difference DOM will prevent it from breaking 950M WW. But hell, this is beyond great.

Re: Harry Potter 5: OOTP (INTL.)
http://www.variety.com/article/VR111797 ... id=13&cs=1Strange, Variety reports a cume of $617m... Warner's eighth weekend of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" showed staying power with $6.5 million at 4,5000 in 58 markets, off 32%. Best perf came from Japan with $1.7 million, second to local opener "Live: Tears in Heaven," lifting that market's cume to $72.4 million. "Phoenix" has cumed $617 million overseas, sixth highest of all time and trailing only "Titanic," "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and the second and third "Pirates of the Carribean."

Re: Harry Potter 5: OOTP (INTL.)
^Variety numbers are wrong..it can't be 617m$..adding 6.5m$ alone from weekend will put it over 618.7m$..without adding weekdays...

Minus the roughly 15M DOM difference, and what would you get?
I think this will assure that HP7 is released in the Summer of 2010 following the trend. Hopefully not in May or June though. They should claim the first or second week of July again. And HP7 should do over 700M, finally, meaning 1B will happen.

I think the only reason why WB might put it in Winter is because it hopes to get some kind of Oscar recognition. Of course I think the best case in that scenerio is probably just a bunch of tech awards which it probably won't matter where they put it with those awards.

Re: Harry Potter 5: OOTP (INTL.)
I hope the seventh is released during the holiday season, not the summer, that would assure $330+ million domestically and overseas it'll be huge anyway.

Ditto...It would get hype and media press that would rival the originals...and if its holidays 2010 rather than 2009...Itd have a legit shot at 150 opening weekend, i think.

It may have strong legs here, and now Finding Nemo's record (highest animated movie with 21M+ euros) is in danger. With the same release date, both Cars and Madagascar had a 4+ mutiplier here, and Shrek 3's OW was 5.8M (7 if you include previews). I'm rooting against it.
